I know FiberOptics sights work well for low light, but is it bright & better than 3-dot paint in daytime ?

Anyone w/ experiences on fiber optic sights, and do the fiber optics last a lifetime cause it collects ambient lights, not like Tritium where it diw in 5-10 years ?

By the way, these are LPA sights.

I have fiber optic sights on one pistol and one rifle. I like them better than painted sights. They have nothing to wear out or fade away, but the plastic tubes could obviously be damaged. It wouldn't be easy. I have fiber optic sights on my 45-70 and they have held up fine. Watch-Six

I have a fiber optic front sight on one of my Kimbers (www.brazoscustome.com). It's an absolute boon to my over-50/bifocal eyes. I think it's faster to acquire than plain sights, and it's easy enough to change the rod for a different color (I can't settle on red vs green). Even if the rod breaks, it still works like regular iron sight. FWIW.

IMHO, like everything else, it depends on what you will be using your gun for. i have fiber optic sights on my kimber and they are great from outdoor daylight shooting. i don't thing you can get a brighter sight picture unless you go to red dot. but, i don't like them in on indoor ranges. i don't think they are good for low light situations. if there is not enough ambient light like on a dim indoor range, i can barely see the sights.

in addition, fiber optic sights are the most fragile of any type of sights. for range work they are totally fine. for action pistol shooting, they are ok, but i have seen people lose them in the middle of a match. for CCW or duty, i would not use them b/c i don't think they are tuff enough to stand up to hard abuse.

i'm planning to switch mine out for night sights.

I have fibre optics on my "game" guns. The front tubes need to be changed every couple of hundred rounds to keep them bright. I think it is a combination of powder residue and heat that dimms them. Cleaning helps a little.
For all my self defence guns, they are nite sights.
Hope this helps!
