This branch is located in the 1900 block of Lake Shore drive -convenient to a number of area businesses but isolated with low visiblity from the street.

since the passage of the concealed handgun law in 1995-96, the bank has been posted against lawful carry. it now carries the regulation 30.06 Sign and is the only bank in the area to do so.

the bank manager told a long term customer that State law requires him to post the signs knowing this to be untrue.

In order to keep this customer's business, he finally said that he could carry his gun while making deposits as long as he promised not to attempt to intervien in case of a robbery.

"Good, so when violent robbers take you all hostage and execute a man each 30 minutes, I'll just sit by". Is that the kind of document they want him to sign?:D

no documents involved. the cowardly and dishonest bank president just gave in and told him that to keep his money. If he did get caught inside the bank violating the sign, I'm sure the bank manager would not stand behind him or keep his word.

One of the two little banks in my nearby small town in East Texas posted the 30-06 sign when the law passed. The other did not. Of course, MY bank was the one who posted.

I mentioned to the manager that I would be moving my accounts to the other bank in passing one day. He asked why and I told him. He got a funny look on his face and said that at least 10 other people had said the same thing in the week that the sign had been up.

The next day i went back and the sign was gone, replaced by one of the NON-legal, NON-enforcable slashed circles with a gun in it. I asked Bubba (really, that's his name!) about it and he said that his dad (who actually owns the bank) like to kicked his tail when the mayor (who owns the feed store, really!) called and complained about the sign.

So i asked bout the meaningless sign and he said it made the retired yankees in the lake subdivisions less nervous.
:neener:

Sorry you got the bermuda shorts, suspenders and obesity set over there.
Probably, they should stay at home under the airconditioner, sit on the comode, eat vanilla ice cream and think about how Bill Clinton is their Shepard and they shall not want.
