Here is a fighter(for lack of a better description) I forged from a retired file. The scales are eucalyptus wood with copper pins. Thanks for looking
OAL: 11.5"
Blade: 5.5"
Spine thickness 1/4"
p.s. it has a "secret" bottle opener.:)

Doesn't say fighter to me because of the blade/handle angle...but I like it. :)

Have to agree with John Shirley on this one. If you handed me that knife and asked me to describe it, I'd say "hand-forged kitchen knife."

But if you ever have a vegetable uprising on your hands you'll be glad to have one of these :).

Looks nice, and I think all knives should have bottle openers built-in.

Looks like a good camp knife.

I see you left it full thickness on the spine.

Is it through hardened or differentially heat treated?

In an ice pick grip it could be a fighter. In a forward grip it's groovy camp knife. The shape is nice as a kitchen blade, but the file grooves would trap food/dirt and difficult to clean thoroughly. So it's not suitable as a kitchen knife either.

Nice workmanship. How did you heat treat?

Edge quenched and triple-tempered. As I stated, it really follows no pattern. I guess one could apply any term to it they desire. Thanks for looking and all comments.
