My gun collection/"arsenal" has had pretty much all the bases covered, except a long range bolt action rifle.

Today I took a step to fill that gap by ordering on GunBroker a new Marlin XL7 .30/06 with scope for $309, plus $18 shipping. Can't wait till it gets here! Christmas comes in January this year.

Any thoughts on the XL7? I've heard some good things about them. The scope I'll probably dump later for a Leupold.

I've heard good things about them. Some guys I used to work with like them as much as the your basic Rem 700. What scope comes on it?

i love mine i can shoot sub moa with handloads at 100yds

the only thing i dont like about mine is the checkered bolt handle, id prefer a smooth ball but that comes from learning to shoot on a milsurp. but its not that big of a deal, if it was i would have a new bolt handle put on it

aubie whats wrong with the stock??

it was light for me but i just added some lead shot for balance and then sealed it in

I believe the scope is a Bushnell, but I'm not sure. I'll give it a chance, then dump it for a Leupold if i don't like it.

I like Marlins and I think I got a good deal; in the shops around here they're going for $350, sans scope, plus sales tax (9.1875%). All told, this one will cost me about $355 ($309 price + $18 shipping + postal fees sending money order + $20 transfer fee).
