Butcherboy here: i previously posted about my m28/30 that was shooting very high @100yds.

i ordered a tall front sight from TGP, and it looks like i probably wont be getting it anytime soon, SO....,

i talked to a retired engineer at my gun club and he made one.

my question is: how should i have the front sight adjusted for the 7.62x54 round?

i was thinking dead on @ 100yds or should i have it 2-3inches @ 100yds as its balistacly similar to the .308 and .30/06. any help/comments would be great thanks.

also i dont want to put a scope on this gun, im only 25 with good eyes and i shoot iron sights pretty well.

Your rear tangent gives you more elevation increase than you could ever need, so I'd say zero it to 100 at the back end of the tangent and re-calibrate with your chosen load. That is, if your load shot with the back slider on "300" is hitting square at 250, then note it accordingly for the field.

You can even make the first notch a 50 meter notch, which is handy.
