Just bought my first AK yesterday. I've been waiting a long time for my local gun shop to get in somethings other than the $333 junk he normally carries. If he'd had one of his Arsenals chambered in 7.62x39 instead of 5.56 I'd have bought one. This is a Yugoslavian Century rifle. Just shot it this morning. I love it already.

This has been a long time coming. My collection feels much better now.

I'd love to get a nice unfinished wood forehandle for it. I would enjoy staining it myself. I also want to mount a scope and test accuracy. I'm interested to see what it'll hold.

$600. It had a 'used' tag on it, but it didn't look like it'd ever been shot, and was in great shape.

I guess this means I shouldn't chamber it in the house, or anywhere I don't want it to accidentally discharge.:what:

very nice. I just got one of those myself yesterday.

I could never buy the m70ab2 in michigan because it has to be regestered as a pistol (due to the length of the rifle with the stock folded. I am really against weapons registrations so it wasn't for me.
I recently moved to ohio and I found one at a surplus store and couldn't pass it up.

does yours have working night sights?

This is common. AR-15s and any other rifle with a free floating firing pin do it, too.

ehh thats pretty deep for a floating pin. i wouldn't chamber it in the house untill i test it out at the range. maybe you lucked out and found a hard primer, the next round may not be so forgiving

W.E.G., I guess you're telling me that future purchases need to be made through an ffl online. Looks like I could've saved $80.

collateral, what does 'working night sights' mean? It has a flourescent red post, and another thicker post flips up to cover it if I flip it up.

That's all I know about it.

Any one care to send me somewhere where I can buy a nice piece of wood for the foregrip? I also wouldn't mind knowing how to fit a scope to it.

Thanks.

Looks like you could have saved few bucks to me.

Don't sweat it man. You liked the gun, you wanted it, and you got it.
When it comes to gun purchases, some amount of buyer's remorse is completely normal.

AK's do dimple primers if you let the bolt slam.

Be careful loading guns in the house. There is no rule that says you gotta let the bolt slam with maximum force, especially if there is an external, fixed cocking handle. Easy to bump it the rest of the way closed if needed. Harder to spackle the hole in the wall.

Oh, I don't have any buyers remorse. I've yet to make a bad gun purchase. I'm not really big on buying things that I can't personally inspect either.

Here's what the sights look like

Why does it flip like that? What's the purpose?

Again, why does it flip?

What is this lever for?

Thanks for the chambering tips weg.;)

These two 'holes' used to have tritium vials in them.

Your front sight, did too (the part that flips up)

you can always use some hi-brite flourescent paint, or whatever it's called. Dab where the tritium used to be, and then paint the back of the front post.

So, wait, the M70s have flip-up Tritium sights (or did)? Okay, that's just sweet.

Any idea what it'd run to have the vials replaced?

correct muzzle flip, dimpled mag wells, grenade ladder with cutoff, it's got all the right parts, very nice. does it have a scope rail on the left side?

XS makes replacement tritium front sights for ~$70.

I meant to have new tritium vials placed in the already extant flip sights, since the ability to flip them up and down gets rid of the problem with tritum looking washed-out during daytime.
