Went to a range Iron sights in Oceanside CA and rented the 4" XD.

Wow! What a trigger! Sure it was a rental and the trigger has been worked in some but it would not have got to that point if it had come form the factory bad.

Smooth, light and with a reall clean break it was a whole lot better than I was expecting.

The gun as a whole fit my hand well, recoil was easy to control, and it was very accurate.

I also rented a Wilson 1911 in the same session, yup the range had a rental Wilson. I actually did a double take and asked a couple of really stupid questions.

"Is that a Wilson? Is this the rental case?" Even though the little card next to the gun said 'Wilson' and it was obviously the rental case as it was the very case from which the clerk pulled the XD.

I shot the XD better than I did the Wilson and the XD felt a little better to me. Odd, eh?

The range itself is very nice, plenty of guns to choose from, rated for rifles and allows rapid fire.

It was a most wondorous choral melody-- bang bang bang boom boom pop pop poppity pop boom bang cracka thwak boom bang bam-- with the various firearms sang their pieces.

Fine gun. Compares to the Glock 21 favorably. Slimmer grip, crisper trigger. Although the trigger reset is quite long, especially compared to the glock. A little top heavy unloaded, but not nearly as much as you would think. And accurate, like P220 accurate just about.
