I decided I wanted an M96 after shooting Robarms test gun. 3 weeks later, I have one. Thanks Terra for the heads up on KSL

I think these are freaking cool guns. Finding a deal on one is tough. They are between 1600 and 2500 on Gunbroker.

They are good looking guns too. Very clean lines. I plan on keeping it KISS. No lights, rails or optics on this one.

As far as old school stamped steel guns, I think only the SIG 551 looks better

Dang, now that is a real assault rifle. Looks way better than the SCARs of today. If I only had the money......

i paid about 1100.00 for mine,a couple of years ago.i guess i got a great deal. your gun has all the upgrades, too, the skeletonized rear sight sides are from the later guns. ive got the scope rail, too, which is impossible to find now. robarm might be making more of these guns this year,so maybe a rail will be made again, too.

Cool, how does it shoot?

I gave it about 200 rounds worth of Wolf and the M96 shot great. I also had a chance to visit Robinson and get a ban free barrel and ambi bolt release added.

Awesome carbine all in all. Recent pics

Finally done. Desert furniture was added today. I picked up a manual as well. I have "classic" ported barrel, and ban free barrel. Switching back and forth takes a whooping 5 seconds.

I finally have the gun I wanted to buy 4 years ago. The M96 is very cool

Nice find. I always thought the M96 had some very cool lines (likewise the Stoner 63 it's styled after), but don't think I've ever actually seen one in person on the shelves of gun stores, at gun shows, etc.

...all I can think, regardless of how well it may function, is they want HOW MUCH for a gun with welds looking like that?

I'd also get spare parts: firing pin, extractor, springs...

The problem with really cool unique rifles is they tend to have unique parts...

What are the advantages/disadvantages of the M96 vs the newer XCR?

I think the M96 has a better QD barrel system, has a better trigger, and overall, shoots nicer. I like the modular magwell too.

The XCR does everything else outright better.

Here is a pic of my XCR for reference.

All you need now is an AR style drum mag to give it that Viet Nam Era SEALs Stoner MG look. Either that or a Bren kit with top feed. Cool deal and I really like the free ban barrel much better, looks wise. Always hated the muzzle break ends. Congrats on a beauty.
