It seems that every rifle scope I see has a huge bell on one end and about 24 different power settings on the other.

Is there anywhere to find a "no frills" straight, 1" tube, 4x or so scope for a reasonable price? ($100-200 or less)

I have a ruger m77 30-06 lightweight, all weather that I would like to put something lightweight on. I hunt Georgia and Alabama forest and clear cut. I rarely see ranges beyond 200 yards and a super sniper scope seems a little out of bounds. If I could do so easily, I would put iron sights on it.

Thanks for any ideas

Brandon

Check out the Burris "Short Mag" and the Weaver Classic K-Series scopes. There are some 4x fixed power scopes in those models that are well under $200. I've owned both Burris and Weaver brand scopes. Good quality.

Do they still make Leupold M-8 line? The 3x was about right. The Burris Mini scope line with the 2-7x was really good too . I used to put both on 5 pound Model 600's. :D

IMO, best scope for the money is Nikon Pro-Staff 3-9x. ~$150. That is what I got for my sister to go along with the Ruger M-77 Mk II all-weather .280 that was her 20th B-day present.
