Just looking around at Finnish gun sites...about the 39's then I saw a blurb about these M-27's. Are they as good as the other Finnish Mosin Nagants?

What would the approximate value be on one of these?

Any thing special about them or are they just and early Finnish MN variation?

:)

Values are on par with M28's. The 27 was the first real improvement of the M91 (yeah, there was the 24, but it was really just an upgraded M91). The M28, 28/30, and 39 are all evolved from the 27. They are great rifles with M91 style rear sights and ear-protected front sights. The triggers are usually superb and often they come with stock discs.

The M27 was an official Finnish Army rifle, while the 28 and 28/30 were Civil Guard rifles. The 27 was replaced by the M39 in Finnish Army Service, but they saw action throughout WWII until the end of the Lapland War.

Are there any special marking to be aware of when looking to purchase one? I have heard something about an F marked receiver or something.

F is a bore marking. VKT marked M27's are extremely rare. Most are Tikka built. There are also two different stock variations, the first has a rather standard-looking nose cap while the other one has "popcicle stick" reinforcements on either side. Some will be ski-trooper models with sling swivels on the side. But this is the real place to find info:

If your looking for one (or more I might be able to help)

Its funny. I lived about 2 hrs from you for 10+ years and picked up most of my Finn collection in pawn shops and out of the way gun stores down there.

If your interested I have a couple I might let go. One is beautiful and I've only shot it with Lapua factory ammo and usually got around 1 inch with the 185 grain bullets. If your interested PM me.

M27s, M28s, and M28/30s start at $300 with prices of $400-500+ being common

occasionally someone lucks out and finds one cheap but these people are dirty bastards and i hate them... i mean it's becoming less common to find a seller with one that doesn't realize what specific mosin they have they just think "mosin" and/or "communist piece of junk" and sell it dirt cheap

{"occasionally someone lucks out and finds one cheap but these people are dirty bastards and i hate them."}

So you are saying the SY stamped Tikka barreled M-28 in a M-27 rear swivel sling stock I recently found in a shop for 90 bucks makes me a bad person? LOL!! Ahh, come on man. It was just an old crappy Russian Mosin Nagant. There's millions of them. Right? The guy was lucky I took it off his hands. Hell, the stock is kinda dinged up and the rear sight is not even marked in meters or yards. Some weird arshin crap. LOL!
