I’ve shot a variety of rifle, pistol, shotgun and rimfire Fiocchi ammo for years and always found it to be good stuff. With B&P, I only have experience with their sub-gauge shotgun shells. Again, that’s been good stuff too.

Hopefully they’ll be able to up production to help make a dent in the ammo shortage. :)

Stay safe.

Why on earth are there not new hedge fund investors and companies not trying to get into ammunition? Is it all about getting a Government contract, and if they cannot they are afraid?

It seems to me there is plenty of cap room for undercutting todays higher prices (for years, really) by going small and building slowly. Maybe that’s the problem? And “group” with real money would want to go big and win big early in the game, when the steady growth areas are there, but may require being more in tune and changeable with the market.

Niche caliber ammo is crazy high. A small manufacturer could make some decent profit there, while beating the big guys on price, one would think.

I haven't shot either brand, because I don't trust steel rims in my Ljutic, or plastic rims in any gun after Eclipse. in the early 80's I realize the B&P's have a metal insert in their rim like Activs did, and would probably be fine, but the LGS mostly stocks the Sporting Clays hot loads. Then there's the fact I reload, and I'm set up for AA's and STS hulls. And I did try to reload Eclipse hulls, the gun club I worked at couldn't sell the hulls so they gave them to me. Didn't turn out well, I had to knock 5-6 wads out per box. (25, not those 20 round boxes they came in...)

Entropy, I see you reload shotshells... I have done a little of that too.

What is your opinion of the cheddite hulls for reloading? I have been shooting Rios at my club, more than most brands lately.

Cheddites are Euro and mostly trash. If you reload them, use federal data and Euro primers like Cheddite, Rio or Fiocchi as Euro primers are metric and thus just a smidge larger than US primers.

Well, Remington hulls are near impossible to find. Now that ATK has them, I’d think they’re gonna have Federal style hulls going forward?

As George P says, Eurotrash. If you do load them, Fed. wads and data and Cheddite primers. Be careful not to use Euro primers in US hulls, or you will have to use Euro primers in those same hulls from then on.

I get at least 50 new Remington Nitro 27 hulls every week of leagues from a guy I convinced to try them; he won't shoot anything else. He has several flats of Rios just sitting around, keeps trying to get his kid to shoot them up. I get about 100-200 AA HS hulls from other league shooters each week in the summer also, and I buy some occasionally myself. Walmart sells them, try https://brickseek.com/walmart-inventory-checker/ , and here are the UPC's:
Win. AA Super-Handicap 1 1/8 7.5 shot- 002089201407
Rem. STS 1 1/8 7.5 shot- 04770030610
Rem. Nitro Sporting Clays 1 1/8 7.5 shot- 04770031620
Rem. Nitro 27 Handicap- 1 1/8 8 shot- 04770030650
Rem. Gun Club 1 1/8 8 shot- 04770030160

The Gun Clubs reload and shoot fine also-I don't shoot them, but I get the empty boxes from half my league team.
They can be found online, too.

Doubtful for the time being; Walmart carries Remngton. STS, Nitros, Gun Clubs, etc. all use the same load data. Any decent shotgun club (trap/skeet/sporting) will have more hulls than you can haul in a pickup truck bed free for the taking - you might have to scrounge some trash buckets.

I believe Remington ammo will be left alone and just allow Vista (not ATK) to expand their presence - much the way P&G owns 80% of the retail space in the laundry aisle by having multiple brands

I am currently using Cheddite hulls for reloading 3" 410 shells. Cheddite and Fiocchi are the only ones that sell new 410 hulls. And yes I have found that Federal reloading data the best and safest for Cheddite hulls. And they do require the Cheddite or Fiocchi primers which are bigger than US made 209 primers.

Yes, in .410 the Cheddite and Fiocchi are more common, AA .410's have about the same per weight value as gold. (not literally) The skeet shooter I gave the box I found in the hull can at my club sure appreciated them.

I have always preferred 3" shells for hunting use and here lately I have been reloading 3" hulls with 5 pellets of 000 buckshot for HD. The combo of Hornady 000 buckshot, hodgdon H110, Cheddite hulls and Claybuster wads works great out of my Mossberg 500 and Shockwave.

And yes for the skeet shooters, the 2 1/2" Winchester AA hulls are like gold.

Hopefully we can start seeing more ammo available with the merger.

So.... is the consensus that I won’t get enough reloads out of the Cheddite to even start with them, wads, etc? I have loaded Rem and some federal.

Or is it that the reloaded rounds are just no good, don’t pattern, cycle, etc? I watched Manny CA on YouTube reload them like 6x . Obviously not as good as Nitros, but i just have a lot.

You should be able to get some reloads from Cheddites; you will get a lot more from Win AAs in 410

Been using Fiocchi ammo, mainly handgun and shotgun ammo, for many years now. All good stuff with no problems of any sort with it. Never heard of Baschieri-Pellagri until today.

I think Old Hat wants to load 12 ga., or at least did not specify gauge. 12 Bravo 20 sounds like he's a pretty experienced .410 reloader from his posts on it in other threads.

If I were to start loading steel based hulls, it would definitely be Remington Gun Clubs. If you are in the US, Old Hat, you shouldn't have a problem finding those. I have a friend who loads them, has virtually an unlimited supply of them from some of the clubs he shoots at. They load to the same data as Remington STS and Nitro hulls, which he also loads for handicap and Annie Oakleys.

The main disadvantage to Eurotrash hulls and most Federals, except Gold Medals, is they have a 6 pt. crimp vs. an 8 pt. crimp. The 6 pt. crimps don't hold up as well as the 8 pt. in reloading; six reloads from one is stretching it; many that do reload them done one and done. Partly because they have more hulls to gather, with most serious reloaders scarfing up the AA and Remington hulls, and partly becuase crimps will develop pinholes at the fold much quicker than said AA and Remington hulls.

If you have access to lots of free Rio and and other Cheddite type hulls, there's nothing wrong with reloading them, but I'd do one and done myself if I did. I also recommend Downrange's Federal-type wads for them, https://downrangemfg.com/index.php?option=com_zoo&view=category&Itemid=169 , they load easier, and the Winchester and Remington-type ones I use pattern better and leave very little residue. As mentioned before Cheddite primers; I can't help you there, I've never used them.

Thanks.

I may not invest in new stuff to lad them, but will start saving them anyway, just in case. It’s 20and12, too.

At today’s price increases, reloading even one and done would be cost effective if you had the equipment.

I've had good luck with Fiocchi 9mm and .45, and I currently have about 20 boxes of 9mm and about 3 of .45, which is about all I have left of .45 after feeding my S&W 625-3 and losing control and giving it 4 boxes instead of just one. I used up all the stuff that I normally have some issues with in some guns. A 45 ACP revolver doesn't care much about the ammo it uses.

I have always had good luck with Fiocchi pistol ammo and 22lr ammo.

As far as reloading shot shells. Yes I reload 410 and prefer 3" shells for hunting and HD use. 3" hulls are harder to find than 2 1/2" hulls are. Pretty much your choice for 3" 410 hulls is to either buy new Cheddite or Fiocchi hulls ore go dumpster diving.

If I were buying new 12 gauge hulls, I would get a different brand then Cheddite or Fiocchi.
