For almost a year, I have had on order from "Sportsman's Guide" 1000 rounds of Fiocchi brand 9mm 115 Grain FMJ for a price of $206.12 shipped. As Sportsman's Guide regularly does, they keep pushing back the back-order date. I have found a place where I can get 1000 rounds of Winchester White Box 9mm 115 Grain FMJ for $263.19 shipped. The Winchester is in stock and ready to ship. I am not in a big hurry either way. But, I am afraid Sportsman's Guide will end up canceling my order and I will have missed my chance on the Winchester as well. Hypothetically, if both were in stock, is the Winchester worth the difference in price? OK ... realistically, due the back-order situation at Sportsman's Guide, should I go ahead and get the Winchester?

Some guns don't do as well with the heavier bullet. My p7 does just great with 115 or 124. I probably wouldn't use the 155 grain but that's just me. How about checking with ammunitiontogo.com or natchezss.com. Natchez is usually a little high but I get good service. I really like ammunitiontogo if I can catch what I want in stock. I have had great luck with S&B, Blazer Brass, Federal found at Walmart, Winchester 115 at Walmart, and Fiocchi which seems to be a little hotter than the Winchester or others.

I feel your pain about sportsmansguide and fiocchi ammo! I have had fiocchi 115 and 147gr JHP's on back order for 6+ months. I really like fiocchi fmj. I would rather have that than WWB.

I edited my original post. I made a typo and originally stated that the Winchester White Box ammo was 155 grain. I meant to say that it was also 115 grain just like the Fiocchi. I corrected my mistake. Thank you for the replies. Any others?

I've used Winchester WB for years without issue or problem in any of my handguns; it always works. I don't often get the chance to use the Fiocchi brand -- I just don't see a lot of it in my neck of the woods. The times that I have used it, it also worked just fine; I grab it when I see it. Bottom line: Shoot what's available to you and what you can afford. Quality ammo is quality ammo, regardless of the manufacturer.

I attempted to order some Mag-tech ammo from the "Sportsman's Guide" and after the fourth back order notice, which would have made the projected delivery a year past the original promised ship date:cuss: I canceled my order and I will never do business with Sportsman's Guide again.

Recently I have been shooting a lot of Fiocchi ammo, originally based on price, and I have been very impressed with it and given the choice would purchase it over the Winchester brand. I would check with Ammo To Go or Georgia Arms and see what they have for sale.

A cut and paste

A quick cut and paste from the AMMO To Go web page.

50rds - 9mm Fiocchi 115gr XTP Hollow Point Ammo $21.49

500rds - 9mm Fiocchi 115gr XTP Hollow Point Ammo $209.49

1000rds - 9mm Fiocchi 147gr FMJ Ammo
$259.95

500rds - 9mm Fiocchi 147gr FMJ Ammo
$134.95

I only have experience with Fiocchi in .357 magnum, but their 142-grain jacketed cone shoots more accurately, more consistently, and cleaner than any other cheap practice ammo in that caliber. WWB by comparison is accurate enough, but I tend to get 1-2 misfires per box. Also, after just 50 rounds my revolver is covered in a layer of soot and there are burn marks on the outside of the spent brass.

Now if only they would load it up to their published velocity of 1400 fps, I would have absolutely nothing to complain about.
