I'm looking for an insurance carrier that specifies in firearms. My home policy just won't work anymore. Any recommendations for a quality company that has good no nonsense coverage for a reasonable price are appreciated. Primarily handguns with a few shotguns.

The three most commonly mentioned here are Eastern Insurance, Collectables Insurance and the NRA member policy from Lockton Risk. Based on my experience they are listed here in ascending order of cost, with the NRA policy being way more costly than the other two.

I had a Collectables policy for several years and then switched to Eastern because their rates were significantly lower. Thankfully I have never needed to file a claim with either company so I can’t offer any data on how they handle claims.

Since the link for Eastern has already been posted I’ll drop the one for Collectables in as well: https://collectinsure.com/

I just re upped with Lockton a few weeks ago, I will try to remember this thread when it comes time to renew again. I have a feeling most on here have enough guns to overflow the "sporting goods" area most home owners ins covers. I think in my case it was $1200. That is really easy to do in just one gun these days.

Can any one share what the cost per thousand is, at Eastern? I know it's not all apples to apples given location, house type, etc but a general idea would be useful.

I'm actually looking at firearms insurance right now. My State Farm agent recommended it (he's a Marine and fellow gun nut).

I don’t have the pricing off the top of my head right now, but it seemed extremely cheap. It covers fire/flood type disaster loss as well as theft.

Anyhow, it might be one other option to consider.
