Has anyone dealt with Collectible Insurance Co? My homeowners will cover some, but not all of my guns and related "stuff'. It lookes like Collectible Ins. has a decent price, but I don't know anything about them. Anybody out there heard of them? http://collectinsure.com

I have a similar problem, coupled with the fact that I don't like registering my guns with any company.

I don't yet have a solution, but most of my guns are in Army paid-for storage with a huge insurance policy. The guns I left out are covered under my renters policy.

The NRA offers inexpensive insurance and no requirment to submit serial numbers.

$1,000 of ArmsCare coverage with your NRA membership. This plan covers insured firearms, air guns, bows and arrows against theft, accidental loss, and damage. For special provisions and limitations of the ArmsCare Plan click here. ArmsCare.

For purposes of insurance, NRA members must be current active members of the NRA whose name appears on the NRA membership list.

New and Enhanced insurance coverages through the NRA Endorsed Insurance Programs. Enroll on-line for Life, Health and Accident and Individual Property and Liability insurance or call Toll free 1-877-NRA-3006 (1-877-672-3006.) New Commercial Property Liability Insurance Program for NRA Affiliated Clubs and Business Alliance Members, visit on-line or call Toll Free 1-877-487-5407.

The most important benefit of NRA membership, however, is the defense of your Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. NRA-ILA tracks the issues and alerts members about legislation involving firearms and hunting at the federal, state and local levels of government. Successful legislative action begins with you -- the individual member. For information regarding legislative action or to become an ILA grassroots volunteer, call 1-800-392-8683.

You can review more from my site Small Armz under Join The NRA on the menu.

I've used them for a number of years. I'm waiting for my renewal now that they are with Lloyds of London to see how it affects how much insurance I can carry and the new premium. One of the main reasons I went with them is that they are local (at least for me).

I've been very happy with them, but no claims, so I can't advise on that respect. They do not require serial numbers, but do require a descriptive list of items. Check with your homeowner's agent first to see if you can buy a little more coverage there - that was the cheapest for me, followed by Collector's. In the past, Collector's has not covered regular-use guns, only "collections" seeing no or occasional use. With the new underwriter (Lloyd's), only primary self-defense guns are excluded.

My Homeowner's insurance just added a rider for my firearms. I guess I crossed a certain threshold of value... :D

Does this coverage you mentioned require you to do something (apply etc..) or just be a member, with the premium covered in your membership fee?

Thanks

As you know most Ins. companies have a limit on firearms eg. $2500. However you can schedule them on your policy individually, and cover them that way. The $2500 limit is for non-scheduled items, because of the high theft potential. If you schedule them individually then it is not subject to the $2500 limit.

Not every company may allow this, but I know some do.
