For those of you that work the 8-5 office job, do you view firearm websites while on break at work?

I am concerned that an ignorant coworker might see an image of a pistol or AR on my screen and say something..

I frequent this board at work but I stay away from the threads full of pictures..

I read the forum frequently while I am at school. I avoid threads that look like they include pics.

I read the forum when I have time. I also bring in copies of Shotgun News for lunchtime reading, have a small pipe organ display of fired cartridge cases lined up under my monitor, and have four cardboard milsurp cartridge boxes sitting on my desk.

I view it at work but I also avoid picture threads. This is the only website available at work and I believe it has to do with the .org ending.

Since I own the company and all of my Real Estate agents are paid on commission they have my whole hearted support to view firearm sites to their hearts content. NO PORN THOUGH. (Unless it's gun porn.) heehee

My former job was as the Network Admin at a private collage, I got to set all the rules.

But now I work in IT for a big corporation and they are very anti-gun. :(

But they block facebook, myspace, youtube, etc. too.

I read at work all the time when I'm not busy.

My boss is a big shooter, and all my co-workers know that we shoot. Its accepted where I work, thank god.

Our's are not blocked, but we have computer gestapo's. :what:

Even emails are spied on. A woman I work with, she got an email from a friend of hers. Just had some spicy language in it, had her butt right on that carpet the same day. :uhoh:

It's their equipment, they pay for the internet, so...I guess...whatever.

However, they want me to get get involved w/ certain non-work related events...I do my best Nancy Reagan imitation, I "Just say no!" :neener:

My company blocks out gun sites, but I've recently started working from home. I do outside sales and my local office closed. I'm actually getting more work done and doing less web surfing, but when I do, I can go anywhere I want since I use my own personal computer.
For those of you who have gun websites blocked at work. Check out the one below.....hehehehe

I look at THR and a local site. I stay away from anything not G rated or thats too militant

I've never tried. I never surf the web for pleasure while on the job, not even at lunch or after hours. I just keep my serious face on and pound away at whatever task is on the top of my list.

As a result I am now rich. If you don't believe me, just ask Obama...

Awesome!

Aw, man. That's awesome!:) I will have to check it out at work tomorrow.

But to answer the original post. I get no flack. I work at a hospital. Most of the big wigs shoot. I probably go to THR twice a day.

Very concerning that one must behave as though they are engaged in a subversive activity.
Sounds like another argument for educating the ignorant rather than bashing them. If not it's inevitable that the circle will get smaller and smaller and ......

CRITGIT

I work for the forth largest school district in the US, everything is blocked. I can't even get to my temple's website, BetShira.org. It just bring up the "Yor're a verry, verrry BADDDDD Boy!, Danger-Gambling" Oh No! You will burn in the inferno of hell!
I got called down to the Principal's office for using A$$ in an email... Police state.

For those of you with monitored or censored work internet, you can get cell phones now with inexpensive internet access that is very fast for not much more. This way you can send and receive private e-mail and browse the web.

Another option is to use a VPN (encrypted virtual private network) connection to your home computer. Or you can do a windows, encrypted remote desktop connection. These would circumvent their filtering and monitoring, if allowed.

My buddy at work set me up to get on via his encrypted proxy server connection, no problems yet.

I know I'm on the HR "Watch List". :neener:

Even though I work for a public university whose faculty would probably have a fit if traffic was monitored and/or controlled, I still use one of my home machines as a proxy server, and establish an encrypted ssh tunnel to it from work. I have a work-issued laptop, but I keep all my personal data and apps on a removable USB thumb drive. I also try to be discreet about it at work - no picture threads if it can be helped, keep the web browser's window tucked next to the side of the monitor that's next to my printer so it's nearly impossible to see if somebody walks by.

At least all the typing makes me sound more productive... :p

Friend of mine recently canned from a job for viewing Olympic results online at work! Companies have the right to regulate what's viewed (however lame their reasons may be), so watch your back, especially if you work through a server where your online activity can be monitored. Save the 'radical' stuff like the Olympics and gun ownership for your home computer. Save your job.

I used to work front desk at a well-known Seattle-based coffee giant. I would read THR, browse gunbroker and gunsamerica, catch the news on drudge and savage and some doom and gloom over on survivalblog. I was watched on surveillance and I'm sure IT recorded it all. Never heard a peep

Heck, when it was fairly quiet I'd pull up the guntalk podcast or some video on Glenn beck's site to pass the time.
