Firing a pump action prone.

Firing? No problem. Cycling the action?, well thats a bit different. ;)

I dont have any problem firing pump action weapons from prone. I seem to pivot on my support arm elbow and use my firing grip to cycle the weapon. Try it, and decide if its managable for you.

I would think it wouldnt be too hard if instead of sliding the forearm back, you held the forearm still and pushed the rest of the gun foward and then back with your trigger hand.

I just pumped the forearm

When prone and pulling the forearm back you lift some of your body weight off the the ground. When cycling forward gravity actually does most of the work.

Quit theorizing about it and just try it and I think you'll learn that this is much adoo about nothing

Sure you can do it.

Does it negate any advantage of the pump over other actions? Yes.

Do you care? Depends whether you want a fast followup shot prone, or just to have the option of shooting prone with the gun you happen to be carrying.

It's not like you can hold a lightweight bolt gun dead on target while working the action, either.:)
