I have a nice Mauser bolt that I need to use and all is good to go but the firing pin hole appears elongated some from primer corrosion?
The face could be cleaned up some and may take care of that , the face looks to be pretty good and will clean without going too deep but If I clean it and the hole does not clean then I cant send it back, also
I intend to clean it with the handle off before I weld on a new one.
Is there a fix for the hole?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Bore and bush

Any details?
I have the equipment, just never been right here before.
Thank you for your reply.

None that I'm aware of.

It used to be common to install a hardened steel bushing in the face of old single-shot breach blocks to reduce the firing pin diameter for use with high-pressure rounds.

But I haven't seen or heard of it being done on a bolt-action bolt.

I would think if you can exchange it or return it and find a good bolt, that would be the best thing to do.

Any decent gunsmith with decent machine tools can easily bore out the bolt face and insert a bushing.

There are a couple choices/methods.

An interference fit bushing can be pushed in and held solely by the tight fit.

Light staking can be done also.

The oversize bored hole can be threaded and a bushing made up that screws in installed. Either staking or Loctite will hold it in place.

The new firing pin hole is than reamed to the desired size.
