First 1911

I just bought my first 1911, Sig Sauer compact commander all stainless 45. I have always heard that 1911 parts are interchangeable. Right now I'm only interested in putting on some Hogue grips., but what I find on the net is listings for Colt Govt/commander. Is it safe to assume that commander size grips are one size and they will fit the Sig, or do I need something specifically made for the Sig. Any comments would be appreciated.

government and commander magazines and grips are the same, there are two grip/mag sizes in mainstream 1911s, Officer and Government(Commander)

Yes. Don't buy "officers size" grips and you are good to go.
