Almost everyone has noticed that the prices on ammo are jacked way up lately, and availability is way down. Suppliers and the 'net all give various reasons.

I was in the local Sportsmans Warehouse yesterday and they had not one box of rifle primers, not one, except for 50BMG which is outlawed here in California.

There seems to also be a shortage of the more popular powders such as IMR or H4350 and Varget as well as others.

Has anyone else seen this or is this just a local phenomena?

Yeah, primers, powder and bullet price has increased about 50-75% and powder is getting a little hard to find.
So far I've seen plenty of primers and bullets at the gun shows.

If bullets get much higher I may go back to casting.

For the moment, I am well-stocked on the components I use. It seems as though most foks on this site don't reload and moan quite a bit about ammo prices. I buy factory now and then for fresh cases but mostly "roll my own". I hesitate to encourage the ammo price complainers to reload 'cause it'll all start rolling downhill may way. . . . So far, I've been able to obtain whatever I need and prices aren't ridiculous.

<sigh>

Please do your homework before posting stuff that isn't true, the only thing not legal about .50 BMG's in CA is rifles chambered for .50 BMG. You can still buy primers, ammo, brass, bullets...

The biggest problem is that people continue buying stuff at these ridiculous prices! STOP!!! You know it's not worth it, if people would stop panic buying the prices will come back down.
