If he is my boy I would rather him kill me when I'm trying to disarm him than get the police involved and have a dead son.

I've read this a couple times and still can't figure it out. Better to die by your sons hand then to have a cop kill him? I'm confused.

Sven, I don't know if you have children or not, but a lot of parents will do anything for their kids, including sacrificing themselves for the child. Now, this is in the context of an alcohol/drug induced child, not one who is intently trying to murder you like the Menendez brothers.

I would rather do what I could to disarm him and die trying rather than call the police who would never show as much restraint as I would. And losing one of my sons would be more devastating to me than my own death ever could be.

If you don't feel the same way, then you can't be expected to understand it. There's nothing wrong with that. It's just different perspectives.
