Finally got to use the father's day present I bought myself, didn't get to use it that long though, it got 'killed', (that's what offspring are for), anyway I got three different loads checked, yeah only five each, I'm new at reloading, wanted to see what ballpark I was in, LOL
115gr LRN, 5.1gr Power Pistol, 1.095"- 1066, 1099, 1083, 1106, 1101. 124gr Precision Delta JHP, 5.1gr PP, 1.100"- 1048, 1027, 1022, 1035, 1017. 124gr LRN Bayou Bullet, 5.1gr PP- 1019, 1041, 1035, 1040, 1093

I was pretty happy with what I got, the 115gr getting up to 1100fps seems pretty quick. I had two more loads for both of the PD and Bayou at 5.3gr and 5.7gr, they'll have to wait till I can afford another chronograph. Bench rests of some sort might be a good move also.

Chronograph...

Jamie C--Glad you got exposed to the delights of using a chronograph!

A bench rest is VERY helpful in avoiding the shooting of same. I've heard that among chrono users, there are 2 classes: Those who HAVE shot their chrono, and those who WILL shoot their chrono. :)

Good luck with getting a new one!

I think it may be more accurate to say "Those who have shot their chrono, and those who are lying!"

My first chronograph took a 22 round dead center of the readout screen on the first day of shooting. Fortunately, it was at the END of the day.

My replacement has a remote readout that can sit out of harm's way and the sensor unit wears armor.

My pictures are not as spectacular as this one's fate.

It could be titled "How to clean and gut a Chrony in one easy pass".

If you bought their brand, Chrony will replace their "damaged" units very economicaly. I don't know about other makers.

I've winged mine a couple times, but never put it out of comission. My friend, OTOH, got to buy me a new housing w/sensors after the 3rd shot out of his Springer loaded model.

I've always said:

Ain't but 2 kinds of chronograph users.
Them that's shot it & them that's gonna shoot it.

Sorry it happened so soon.
Contact the manufacturer & they may give you a great deal on a new one.

If it's a Competition Electronics, they will sell you a new one for $60

I used my first chronagraph to test the knock down power of 380acp. It knocked the chrony off the stand but it still worked. Must have to double tap with the 380 or make sure you have a good shot placement. Sometime later I used the same chrony to expierment with 223 rounds that were stored in the freezer, I had a hangfire but all it took was one round to take it out.

Yep...sooner or later the Chrony dies! I winged mine the other day. One of the struts holding the sun shade has a serious bow in it from a 9mm round. Darn 40 mph wind blew the oh-so-slightly-loose chrony a bit sideways and there went the support.
