Well, not really, but it's my first day at the range in months.

I decided to start slow and just take the Ruger MkII out for a walk. A nice autopistol and a brick of .22 LR.

Several milk jugs filled with water (well, ice, since it froze overnight).

Got to the range, only a few folks out there. The primary pistol range had a family: dad, mom, two girls around 10-12 years old. One of the girls was sulking, the other was shooting a .22 rifle and a tiny .22 pocket pistol. Mom and dad were banging away with Hi Point pistols: his in .45, hers in 9mm.
The Hi Points never jammed or failed the whole time we were there. I gotta look into that .45 he had.
I set up and shot some milk jugs. After I got warmed up I was able to put a whole magazine into a 5-inch group at 20 yards offhand. I shot one-handed with both hands. Managed to hit most in a jug with strong/right hand. Left hand was shooting minute-of-hillside. Two out of ten in a jug.

Old geezer (special wheeled walker with built-in seat) shows up with muzzle loader and black powder revolver. We all get a reality check for our hearing protection. Old guy pulls a S&W Airweight .357 and bangs away with that for a while.
Old geezer does all his shooting sitting down in his wheelie/walker gizmo.
(The whole time we're shooting, brass vultures with hearing protection flit up and down the various ranges, scavanging spent casings.)

Another couple shows up with new purchases: a Firestorm .45 for him and a .357 snubby for her. They shoot coffee cans. Hers does well. His keeps failing to feed. He's shooting Wolf. I talk to him, tell him to try something with brass casings before blaming the gun.

Old geezer pulls a .45 from a holster on his hip and begins raining hot loads downrange, 14 at a time. Of course we all have to go ask him what he's shooting. Its a Para Ordnance 1911 "widebody" with 14 round mags. But wait, there's more -- he has two of them.

Tall dude shows up with Ruger Blackhawk in .357, sets up and makes nice holes in carboard at 30 yards.

Sun starts to get low, we chat. I help the old guy load his stuff back into his IH Scout (!) and we head out.

Ahhh. It's great to be back at the range!

It was -4 deg F this morning when I woke up. It got up to a high of 0. The little Weather Channel ticker I have in my system tray shows -5 deg F right now.

No frickin' way I was going to an outdoor range today.
