Hello all. Thank you for all your activity on THR, as well as direct help, to a newb getting reaquainted with his rights and options for SD/HD.

The first addition to what is sure to be a growing family is my NIB G19 - HomeLand Defender. I know some people aren't down w/ the label, but it's all good, it had the 'extras' I wanted for a reasonable price, and I got a few 'extras' in addition that complete the package.

Included:
G19 - 9MM
4 - 15rd mags (wanted that anyway)
Trijicon Night Sights (wanted that)
Extended Slide Release (wanted that)
Extended Mag Release (not necessary, but ok)

My Extras:
2 Model 18 - 31rd mags
Glock sport/combat holster, just so I can have something for my CCW class, inexpensive way to get started, already eyeing some other holsters, like the Fobus that accepts rail accessories for around the house w/ the light, or some IWB options for CCW, after I take my class.

Here's the SURPRISE, I wasn't expecting. Gun was shipped NIB from Utah, to SC, but had a WARNING inside from the Massachusetts Attorney General, and a NOTICE inside informing me of an
"IMPROVED EXTRACTOR THAT PRODUCES A VISUAL AND TACTILE INDICATION OF A LOADED CHAMBER"
which reminded me of my shopping where that was something I did like about the XD series from SA, Glock is doing it a little different, but I can glide my trigger finger (RH) across the area near the chamber and feel if a round is chambered.

I've never heard of this on a Glock. Is it because they're doing them all that way now, or because I got some gun intended for Mass., even though I'm not in that state? I never heard one person at a dealer, gun show, or on these forums mention this as a feature before. I'm happy about it though, I kind of think it's cool.

Anyway, here's the pics, only had time to take it home today and clean it, try to get to range in a couple days!!! I can't wait to fire my OWN piece! I also inculded a pic of the 'improved extractor' and of the notices from Mass.

BTW, I know those LED high-end lights are supposed to be better than the Glock tac light, but I got such a good deal on it, I thought this package was worth it, and while those LEDs may get more out of low batteries, I must say this Glock light is bright enough to cause temp blindness in daylight, I didn't look right into it, but close enough to tell it was hella bright, on fresh batts anyway.

Regards,

Karz

IMPROVED EXTRACTOR

Here's the IMPROVED EXTRACTOR stuff...

Anyone seen this before? Or have ideas about its distribution, i.e. are they all going to come this way, or only intended for Mass.? And if so, how did I end up with it?

the 'improved extractor' design is a few years old and was incorporated into gen 3 Glocks; don't know if it is a 'functional' improvement or more of a 'tactile' loaded chamber indicator; I have bought several Smith & Wesson revolvers and Ruger handguns that included the 'Massachusetts' warnings...I thought it was provided with all to cover the manufacturers' collective rear ends;

congrats on the purchase...nice kit; my hands are too accustomed to the "Browning" grip angle and I always do poorly with Glocks, so I just stick with revolvers and Berettas

kmrcstintn / mastinson- Thanks for the info. I just thought it was weird everyone I talked to where I looked at an XD and a Glock in the same store, made a point to tell me about the XD chambered round indicator, and NONE of them said anything about the Glock having it, so made me assume it was a new thing, at least around here...

Well, I hadn't shot many of the available models out there yet. I remember how I used to shoot my friend's S&W revolver, which wasn't bad, but I was looking for this purchase to be a semi-auto for HD mainly, and of the ones I shot, the G19 was the winner, for whatever reason, it shot straight for me, and I immediately felt confident in my ability to defend myself accurately with it.

Thanks again to the community here, it greatly decreased my time to research, understand the models, the process and pricing options, particularly giving me the confidence to buy online and get a reasonable FFL transfer, it all worked out so well, after just being here for a few weeks.

Thanks,

Karz

The CZ-52 also has a "tactile loaded chamber indicator." I put together a list of the ways in which the CZ was better than the 1911 one time and that was among the, like, three advantages the CZ had. Despite whatever anyone from Mass says, I like it.

How much??? Come on man. How much, cause i want it too. And do they offer other models.

Thats a nice kit I've never seen it before. Is it Glock or some aftermarket company putting the package together.

How Much?
Well, the core HomeLand Defender package consists of:

G19 - 9MM
4 - 15rd mags (wanted that anyway)
Trijicon Night Sights (wanted that)
Extended Slide Release (wanted that)
Extended Mag Release (not necessary, but ok)

I bought mine from Impact Guns for $603.24, when it went on sale a couple weeks ago. Prior to that, and currently as I write this, their price is $634.99. The MSRP I think is $799, but I saw local gun shops offering it for $699 + tax. By my calculations, I paid about $640 OTD for the base package, including shipping and FFL, so I probably saved about $90 compared to local store, considering I had to pay taxes here. I tried to offer my local gun shop a chance at the business, I even offered to pay retail $400 for a Remington 870 Tactical and the G19 HLD, for $1000 +tax, and he wouldn't do it, so I bought from Impact.

I did have a little trouble (starting around post 20) with them getting it shipped out right away, but they came through in the end. FWIW, I did see a guy at a show this weekend offering them for $650+tax, but since it was a dealer from a neighboring state, I would have had to pay the tax, shipping, and FFL, so I couldn't find a deal to touch the $603/$640 OTD

I would check any upcoming shows in your area, or try to make a deal w/ your local shop, although anyone that doesn't have a direct, or indirect line, to Ellett, won't likely have one in stock, or at a good price. Or watch Impact's site to see if it goes on sale again sometime. Maybe once it's out longer, more stores/sites will carry it, but only 2 of my local shops even had it, and some places that normally have good base prices on glocks that I tried like Bud's, SummitGunBroker, TopGlock, Glockworld, TheGunSource, CDNNinvestments, etc. did not have the package at all, and some never heard of it. I looked at buying just the 19 w/ NS, and adding the rest separately, but it was either a wash, or more expensive to do it that way. I almost bought the 'test-fired only' 19 w/ NS from CDNN for $439 +shipping/FFL, but they were out of them by the time I called, and the USED 19s w/ NS & 1mag only for $399 were still available at the time, but again, by the time I added all the stuff, wasn't much savings for the USED version ($400 + $15 SH + $20 FFL + $30 extended controls + $60 mags + $90 light = $615 OTD, and that's decent deal numbers on the extras, not to mention the hassle getting all those separately, so for another $25 I got it all new)

As for everything else pictured there:

I also bought the (2) Model 18 31rd Magazines from Impact Guns, since they had a SALE on them for $25 each, whereas I haven't seen them less than $30-$40 most places, so that set me back another $53 OTD, since I shipped same time. Looks like as I write this, they're still on sale.

I bought the Glock Sport/Combat Hoslter, and Grip Plug from someone at the gun show here this weekend, $20 OTD for both, not a steal, but convenient. I plan to buy some other specific holsters later, but wanted to have something to practice w/ and take to my CCW class. And I bought the practice WWB ammo from Walmart, and the defensive Remington 124gr +P (25rd. boxes) for $15 ea. OTD cash at the show, not a steal, but again convenient, so I can run some practice and SD ammo through it SOON!

-------------

Do they offer other models?
I'm not sure what all it comes in, but I did see a .40 cal Glock 23 in the HomeLand Defender package at the gun show this weekend for $650, I see Impact has it HERE for $649. I chose the 9MM for a few reasons, I want to shoot it a lot and ammo is cheaper, I've been told my wife will take to the 9MM easier than the larger caliber, etc.

Is it Glock or some aftermarket company putting the package together?
It's a distributor working with Glock. I was in the market for a Glock 19, when I ran across this version of it that comes w/ NS, extra mags, extended controls, and a tactical light, and it's called a HomeLand Defender (warning pdf file, lists current options) package, put together by a distributor Ellet Brothers (website) and future site for the brand HomeLand Defender They're marketing a line of shotguns (Mossberg), Pistols (Glock), and Revolvers (S&W?), as wel as some other gear, under the brand homeland defender.

------------

Hope that helps.
