First guns, now knives...

Only 30% ?

Government research indicates that 30 per cent of youngsters across the country carry knives.
Well, that's a good start, I suppose.

Kinda pales alongside the percentage of kids who carried knives -- at school, every day -- when I was young.

Gotta figure a way to get knives to the other 70% of those kids.

If you don't think it can eventually happen here,

Eventually? Go try and buy an automatic knife and let me know how that goes. No sporting use I imagine is why they had to go. Let your kid carry a knife to school and watch him go off in handcuffs. You are about 40 years late with your warnings. It is only a matter of degrees.

Folks,

Remember that Activism is the place where we come and discuss what we are doing or might do to make change or stop it. It is not a for complaining or simply pointing at a problem. Come up with solutions.

There are two primary organizations in the US working to stop the crazy knife paranoia that some folks have. American Knife and Tool Institute and KnifeRights both take direct action and have excellent websites where you can find out about what you can do to stop politicians and busy bodies from taking knives away from all of us.

Write the papers, go to school board meetings, talk to local politicians and tell them that everyone carried knives to school until busybodies had to find something to worry about as life became safer. http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=248447

Right you are. People are lot more steadfast on the gun issue but the knife issue is exactly the same just a different tool that has somehow been branded evil. Strange that military is now issuing switch blades to deployed soldiers but not in the US.
