In my early years of shooting, "Newgunitis" was serious, and I swapped a lot of guns that I now miss. In fact, I can follow a line of swaps from my Taurus PT92 back to a Ruger P85 MkII. My revolver line ended with an SP101 which was stolen-I keep hoping for a call from the police, saying it was recovered. Fortunately, I had just enough sense to keep my Commander.

The 1st I BOUGHT was a Ruger cap and Ball, the 1st non-black powder was a S&W Model 59, their original double-stack 9mm. The wife is still pissed I used it to pay off a tool bill with 20 years ago!

My first firearm was purchased the first week after I left the east coast back in '78. . I was a new lieutenant at Vandenberg AFB, Ca. And I went out to the Rod & Gun Club and there was a Ruger .357 Blackhawk. So out came my wallet it was under $200.00 , and I left happy. I also purchased a high quality western holster fo under $30.00. I still have both The grips have a few dings [involuntarily dismounting from horses], there is holster wear. The holster is still in great shape with only one loop damaged.

My first was an AMT Harballer. Yes, galling was an issue. I paid $200 for it, it ran great, just didnt shoot so well. I thought about getting rid of it, but was my first gun, so I can't. Then I thought about rebuilding it into a decent pistol, but with a Mercury Zephyr project car, I've already got one worthless pile of crap to build, dont need another.

So I decided to rebuild the frame, and top it off with a .22 kit. I gave the .45 upper away, minus the bbl and bushing, for the cost of shipping. I woulda gave him those too but I couldnt find them.

Smith and Wesson Model 66, bought it from a female cop who bought it from her department when they transitioned to 5906 wondernines. I paid $150 for it, the price she paid the PD.

My second handgun was a Model 19 bought from the same woman who had carried it as a reserve before she became a paid cop.

Sig P230.

In 1992, upon being transferred to Central America, I realized that it wasn't as safe as I had been led to believe. I bought the gun and also got some good training. Qualified for a concealed carry permit after passing a psychological aptitude test in Spanish (which I did not understand).

I still have the P230.

S&W 39-2 in 9 mm. Bought in late 1970s from a county cop who wanted to go high-capacity. Nice gun. Wish I had kept her. Traded her, plus cash of course, for a 6" Colt King Cobra in .357 back in 1986. Have stuck with revolvers ever since.

Taurus 66 357 mag and it still shoots as good as when I fist got it. I bought it used in 1985 and I still keep it loaded with 38 special + p Hollow points for H.D.

My first handgun was a S&W Triple lock 4in in .44 S&W Special. It was given to me by my grandfather on my 16 birthday as I was leaving for collage in
another state His words to me were keep it with you always and use it
if you have to. well the old Smith is still with me after 57 years and is laying
on my desk as I type this. It has gone over seas with me on many trips
that I made as a Engineer. It is the only handgun that I own and probably will be as it has never let me down.

My wife and I started shooting/buying about 3 years ago. Our first purchase was a S&W M&P .40 for her, a Glock 22 for me, and a S&W 686 + for us ;) . Had to buy a second safe about 3 months ago :D

Glock 17

Hey everyone

I'm new to this forum and making my first post here.

I bought a Glock 17 about 1 month after I had turned 18. I shot a friends Glock 22 before and liked the feel of it. So I decided to go with a G 17 because 9mm is the most common ammo over here in Switzerland. Now that I also have a SIG P 220 (army issue), a P 226 (police issue) and a Colt 1911 Series 80, I still prefer my Glock and shoot it the most :) I'm definetly never gonna sell this gun...
