Killed a pair of healthy coyotes this evening with a buddy of mine. Center punched mine in the chest at 125 yards with the 6 CM. He shot the second on the run with my trusty ol 6.8 SPC. I finished her off with a head shot. It’s early in the relationship, but I think I’m falling in love with this POF Revolution. Lightweight, accurate and so far at least, reliable.

It turns out, I did indeed, have a malfunction. When I unloaded the rifle at the end of the night, I ejected an empty case. I thought I had a failure to eject, but once I got inside and checked the rifle to ensure it was clear before putting it in the safe, I noticed the action was full of powder. Apparently the bullet of the last round chambered remained in the chamber and the case pulled out. Not sure yet whether it’s a chamber issue or a cartridge issue. Right now, I’m inclined to believe it’s a cartridge issue as every previous round ejected perfectly and this round was only the third round of the 90 grain Sierra Game Kings. Previous rounds were Hornady 87 grain V-Max.

If that was the first unfired 90GK cartridge that you ejected, my guess would be that you got a bullet jammed into the rifling and stuck there. One way to test that theory would be to measure the length that a 90GK touches the lands in your chamber then compare that to the OAL of your ammo.

The few times that has happened to me that was the problem.

Checking ammo with the same or similar weight bullets involves analyzing the ogive of the bullet and the length of the chamber's throat. It; s easier in a bolt action. Close the action with the cartridge, eject it and examine for rifling marks on the bullet.

Eg: Nosler makes 2 types of 115 gr. partitions, one with a cannelure and one without. However, the ogives are different on the 2 types. The bullet with the cannelure has to be seated deeper in the case so as not to contact the rifling than the other version. It's always a good practice to check them before taking the ammo to the field.

While nothing actually died I had my 6 Creed out for some longer range shooting was cold and windy (luckily near head on and not too hard to read) and I managed to put tgis group on target at 800 it's a 2/3 IPSC so group is about 12". I love 6mm Creed. 20230415_082937.jpg

I think I’ve figured out the issue with the HSM 90 grain stuff. It’s just not crimped very well. OAL is not the issue because 103 and 105 grain Hornady stuff is longer and has no issues. Also, the rifling was not engaged. No sign of rifling marks on the bullet once I got it out. Tried another cartridge from that same box of HSM stuff and got the same result. Stuck bullet and an action full of powder. Guess I’ll have to buy another 6mm CM to shoot the HSM stuff. First world problems…
