I finally got to shoot my (new to me) Kimber Eclipse II last night. I have to say it is nice. It is the first Govt size 1911 I've owned and that extra inch makes a huge difference for me! I shot 200 rounds and every of them went very close to where I wanted them to. My buddy and I both rapid fired several clips at 25 yrds, and all the rapid fire groups went into an area the size of a human head! The gun had lighter recoil that his(my buddy) 40cal barretta Storm. The gun performed flawlessly. I usually just shoot 50 rounds out of it, but this time I wanted to really test it. I know, I know, many of you are laughing because you guys shoot a lot more at the range, but this was significant on my teacher's salary!!! I had a blast.

200 rounds is a very respectable quantity - and it's really more about the quality of your practice, anyway ;)

Glad you like it - I collected my new 1911 (RIA Tac) this evening and I'm looking forward to breaking it in this wekend, too.

My 5" Kimber (Tactical) is my most accurate pistol. You just reminded me I need to take it to the range more often. Good for you for having a good session!

Wasn't me, that was Tecumseh, but never mind. A clip is different to a magazine and getting it wrong will earn you a "What a noob!" look at the range - here we tend to be a bit more forgiving (mostly) ;)

Have you thought about reloading? I guess on average I reload .45 for 1/3 retail. I just went over 60,000 on my Hornady LnL. After a few thousand rounds the press and dies are paid for, then all the savings go into extra shooting or "free" guns. I understand shooting on a teacher's salary. My wife teaches and I use her money for my hobbies.

I loved my Kimber before I sold it.

I loved my Kimber before I sold it as well. It was sold to help finance a Baer TRS so I don't miss it that much. I will get another Kimber someday but it will most likely be a series I.

Kimber Team Match II, changed the grips to full checkered cocobolo, changed to a Wilson RH safety, and am very happy with it.
