Went out to a spot a couple buddies of mine have a range set up. Steel targets from 50 yards to a mile. My buddies have a couple custom built 300 Win Mags and had previous dope on the mile so we got those on target within a couple rounds.

First two mags out of the 6.5 Creedmoors (my AI shooting Hornady 140 ELD-M and his Bergara chasis rifle shooting Hornady 147 ELD-M) and we had no signs of impacts. Luckily we had one round impact outside of some bushes and saw hat we were hitting very low (roughly 3 mils) from what our calculators were saying. My load/rifle ended up needing 25 mils of adjustment and his needed 24.5. The 300s needed around 17.5 mils.

after figuring out my hold I connected on my 5th shot. The target had a Magneetospeed hit indicators which was a very valuable piece of kit. The 300s hit with enough energy to move the gong and we could easily spot those impacts through the Razor 80mm spotter (amazing glass). The 6.5s though were much harder to spot the hits. But the LED light was easy to see.

My buddy also made a 1350 yard shot with a FN SPR in 308. 4th round hit on a steel silhouette.

View through the Razor spotter at the gong at 1300 yards. The picture doesnt come close to showing the clarity the scope provides.

Nice work. We do some shooting up to 1200yds. Do yourself a favor and buy a long range camera system. It's the best $350 I've invested in this sport!!!

Some very fine shooting there. Back in the day I did some 600 to 700 yard shooting but I don't have that kind of distance anymore.

Nice . I can't even see anything that far away. Probably take me about 5 min. to find the target with a good scope!

That sounds interesting! After over 65 years of shooting at many different targets with rifles and handguns, I think that some of my favorite shooting times were when I was around 10 yrs. old and would set a glass soda bottle on top of the "burn barrel" lid, back up about 25 feet, and shoot my Daisy pump gun at it, chipping it from the top down to the base, then dumping the base and chips in the barrel and doing all over again. I wore out three Daisys (a lever and two pumps)!

Our house backed-up to open land at the top of an old clay pit where we played all sorts of fun games, jumped into soft, dry sand banks, dug blue clay, slid down the hill on carboard, skated at the rink at the bottom and flew kites from the top.

Nice place to shoot although it looks like prime rattler country as well.

Nice shooting; looks like a great location, too. Color me jealous ...
Don't get too jealous. The state trust lands are off limits to recreational shooting without a valid hunting license in season or a written permit from the state. BLM lands are also restricted to shooting only in approved areas. Good luck in shooting on national forest lands. Usually too dry and posted as "No Shooting" due to high fire danger.

If you know a rancher or other large land owner away from the developed metropolitan areas, then you are set. Otherwise, you are mostly relegated to the shooting ranges - public and / or private.

Just a sign of the times, I guess....
