finally had a chance to shoot the model 29 after new wood hogue grips were put on. I also shot with 2 loads of 44 mag with 800x and 4227.

the grips do make it easier for me to shoot the gun. the checkering helps with grip and doesn't bother me. it is not as comfortable to shoot as the hogue tamer grips on my super redhawk. if i put the web of my hand high on the grip the inside of my thumb knuckle still gets beat up by the upper corner of the grip so it was better for me to shoot it where the finger grooves place my grip. no more middle knuckle busting as the space behind the trigger guard is obliterated. shot 12.5 gr 800x and 22 gr 4227 with LSWC and a few cylinders of 296 loads. shot paper at 10 yrds and my 10 inch gong at 25 yrds. i did have to rest my hands by shooting other guns but went through 100 plus rds and did lose gas again with my trigger finger shooting double action. the grip makes it easier to shoot with your weak hand double or single hand and still get hits at 25 yrds double action.

i like the grips. i am removing the grips prior to cleaning as recommended by hogue so as not to mar the finish.

18 rds each on the targets at top -offhand double action and 25 yrds offhand

double action . first 3 shots were aimed at center of target and subsequent shots were aimed at the lower edge of the orange circle.

I have that exact grip on my Model 57. Since 1994. It makes it much more comfortable to shoot even warm loads. And man do they anchor your hand to that gun..... That's a very nice 29.
