First time at the range with my first 45ACP loads. I had loaded 8 rounds starting with 10 but a problem with the LEE Auto Prime (I didn’t know it took a different shell holder than the dies) fortunately I had also purchased a Lee Safety Prime system and used that to prime. I seated 2 primers too high and I ended up with 8 rounds. Following the recipe that came with the LEE dies and LYMAN book I used 5.0 grains of Bullseye and 230 grn. Winchester FMJ bullets.
Closing my eyes and squeezing the trigger the first round was successfully fired. What a pleasant surprise as recoil was very mild as compared to factory loads. Accuracy was not too bad as I at least hit the paper and the paper was moving around because of the range fans blowing. Overall I am quite happy with my experience and glad I started reloading.

Welcome to the addiction! lol

Don't be afraid to ask questions as issues arise.

The guys & gals here are pretty dang knowledgeable. Someone somewhere has seen just about any problem you might encounter.

although I don't know how accurate I'd be if I closed my eyes. :D

I just did the same thing my self this week. It sure is fun to shoot you first relaods. I just loaded up 100 for my shoot in the morning.

Welcome to reloading; welcome to the forum and welcome to 5.0gr Bullseye behind a 230gr bullets. It's a good recipe. When I'm working up loads, I usually "build" 2 mags full for each recipe. I'm guessing that because you used the Lee Safety Prime system you are using a Lee loader of some sort. (I use the Lee Classic Turret Press.) You will get the feel of seating the primers satisfactorily in short order. As for the recoil, I think that most people (myself included) expect a lot more shove from a 45ACP than is actually produced. That is my observation anyway. Happy loading/shooting!
