I have a question regarding fixed sights on a handgun. At what distance are these guns set up to be dead on by the manufacturer? I would appreciate information on this.
Most are around 25 yards; sometimes closer in defensive pistols.
My suggestion if you have a gun is to simply shoot it and find out.
Most fixed sighted guns are also designed to have the correct POI for certain weight bullets.
If you get a gun that isn't shooting to POA then you can either find a different load that shoots to the correct POA or you can file the sights to fix it.
I, also, was of the impression that they were usually set at 25yards for the suggested bullet weight. For example on a Tarus 92 9mm using their reccomended bullet weight of 124 gr. I just wasn't sure if I remembered correctly.
