I've come up with a neat design to fix the RCBS turret press, sucks that I had to do this, I regard RCBS highly on their mechanical designs, their catcher isn't the quality it should be. Here is a picture of the fix.

Well, they will probably never go into mass production since it is to expensive for me. But I print these one at a time on a 3D printer, it takes about 2 hours to make one, LOL. I've got about 10 mass produced so far.

Wow! very nice.
When do they go into production? :)
I don't know which I love more my Turret press or my 3D printer! I meant to post my comment in response to your question, but I posted it separate. Still getting use to this forum, do you get notified by email when people post on your thread here.

I thought I would add that if it is something several would want in my other hobby folks have used http://www.shapeways.com, to send the CAD files to and once enough orders come in I think they then print and ship for a fee.

The old RC dumps the primers out the front of the ram, somebody ask me to make them one and they would remove the ram and put it back together reversed, my dad has the RC2 and I'm hoping to measure his up for one some day, I can tell you if I ever do it.

You just sold another. I had plans to make one out of MDF with a piece of copper tube for a drain, but your model is so much better that I had to order one. The RCBS part is a POS. My first was so warped I had to tape it together. The replacement wasn't much better. Thanks.

Oh man, you GOTTA send me a price on one of those....

That two piece plastic POS that came with mine is a nightmare even bubba'ed up with tape to hold it together. I hate it.

There was a fella over on Castboolits who came up with one for the RC's, which I got and OH an is it nice. I was looking into making one for the Turret but haven't had time with other "projects".

I took a piece of SS tubing and flared one end. Then got a little 4oz or so plastic bottle with a metal cap on it, knocked a hole through the middle of the lid and slid the SS tubing through it, and shoved it into the end of the plastic tube to catch the primers in. The flare holds the lid of the bottle just fine, and it makes it real easy to dump the spent ones out. If you find one it will hold around 500 or so spent ones before you have to empty it.

Well caltick, include me as one of your customers. I purchased one of your black versions Can't wait to try it out.

I had misplaced my primer catcher for one of my RCBS presses during a move a while back. So I devised a way to make my own using a plastic Pepsi, or might have been a gatorade bottle. But the point is, I liked it so much, that when I eventually found the original catcher, I decided to just keep it stored away, and instead I use my new fan-dangled invention, and I don't have to pick up spent primers off the floor any more.

RCBS has great equipment, but their primer catchers just don't work all that well. Anyone interested creating a better way, just think heat molding to fit a plastic bottle of practical size and shape to the press and ram. Aside from the OP's neat little invention, I have seen other creations over the years. Come on RCBS, you can do better than this, and especially considering the simplicity of the application.

Hi 41 mag, that was me I think in cast boolits, I have some more cooking right now, I have to hand finish them when there done, if these get real popular I'm going to have to hire my kids, LOL. I will sell them directly from my Facebook account with PayPal invoices if you contact me on Facebook user caltick . I'll have 4 more green to list on eBay hopefully later tonight. The kit is 20$ shipped includes short tube and cork. The tube comes from Lowe's about 70 cents a foot. Because of the cost of shipping I only give a short piece and the cork makes it hold about 200-300 primers.
Thanks everyone!

Hey again,

I picked one of these up from your ebay site and it arrived this afternoon. Wow that is cool, never considered setting something up like that.

I'll probably be getting around to putting it through the paces in the very near future. I have a ton of things to play with and with the heat rising I will be working more inside than out in the shop and having to cool off more area than necessary.

I have the turret set up for loading small test batches and the progressive outside for big batches of final loads. Having just received several new molds the load work will start and I will be sure to post up a nice review of the catcher when I get cranking.

Thanks.

tools: It has been said if it moves and shouldn't use duck tape. After that they said if it does not move and should use WD40.

I use a 2" wide roll of tape to secure the primer catcher on my RCBS Rock Chuckers. I am now using a white tape with blue lettering, not color coordinated. It would look better if I was using a green tape or a clear tape.

Caltick, I just got my primer catcher from your ebay ad. What an awesome piece of equipment. I immediately put it to use and it works sooo much better than the factory POS. Great job!!

Wow, that makes me happy to see, this is the result of amazing technology available to anyone! 3D printing its so cool and addictive, if it just printed faster.
It's very nice of you to post your picture, if you have any problem don't hesitate to reach out to me, ever!
Thanks Chris

Rather than find fault and or complain about the primer catcher on the Rock Chucker I use a piece of tape that goes around the back of the press to hold the catcher in place, the tape closes the gaps. The tape I am using now is white with blue lettering, for the Rock Chucker the green Christmas tape would reduce the rigging looking effect.

For the more creative there is Velcro, rubber bands have too much tension. Black Velcro would look good on the Rock Chucker. In the winter I am tempted to not use the primer catcher.

I am waiting on one of Caltick's left hand models to arrive. Bought on ebay. I have the inline Fabrication brass kicker on my Rock Chucker Supreme and the left hand model should work with that installed.

Good product, works well. I just ordered my second one from Catlick.

Problem is I use my RCBS Reloader Special-5 press for all my depriming and after examining one of the catchers, I think I can modify it well enough to work on that press instead so I ordered the 2nd catcher to cannibalize.

My primer catcher for the RCBS Turret Press solves a lot of headache with the spent primer catcher. It also lets you never have to empty it out again. I can make these in different colors black and green are my favorite colors. I made a short video which shows how it works here. I have these in eBay or they can be bought from me directly on Facebook. Caltick is the user there too.
