I recently purchased a Flaig's Ace rifle. The information I have been able to uncover about it is that it is chambered in .243, it was made in 1968, it has a Sako trigger group, and a Ferlach mauser action.

Ferlach is known for making high dollar custom rifles and shotguns. However, they are not a company as much as a town with multiple companies. Also, this action was more mass-produced-ished than the common Ferlach.

In spite of the quality behind the Ferlach name, does anyone know how good the Ferlach action is? How does it compare, for example, to an FN action? Does anyone have any more information about Flaig's Ace rifles?

Thanks.

sounds like you already know more than most of the guys here.

I'll tell you one thing. if they use the same specs that mausers have used since WWI, then you can't cram enough powder into a 243 case to destroy that receiver.

Hi, congrats on the purchase of your Flaig's rifle. I can't answer your questions, but I also have a (.243) Flaig's rifle. Mine has a FN action on it. I haven't been able to shoot it yet since some dingbat before me screwed up the scope rings and some of the screws, I will have it repaired here soon. One thing about my Flaig's is as soon as you hold it you know you're holding quality. Best of luck getting your questions answered.

just look up Flaig gunsmith, and you will find lots of information. I too just ran across a Flaigs
Ace i have read that had had a German lodge style shop that specialized in sporterizing German Mauser as well as imporitng high end German firearms. I read that he used Douglas and Bohler Stahl ribbed Germn barrels.

Charley Flaig was known to build some of the finest sporting military rifles in the country.

Charley dies around 1990? and his daughter sold everything off.
