Yes; normal. The more uniform it is in height, the more uniform case walls are. A good thing for best accuracy. I recently sorted over 1200 once fired Western Cartridge Company 308 Win match cases; WCC58 head stamp, 151 grains average weight. 24 of them had uneven pressure rings. Best 308 Win brass ever made. A close second is their WCC60 match brass; hundreds of new, unfired have I. Want some?

As new case bodies are smaller diameter than chambers, their body forward of the bottom inside of the case expands against the chamber then shrinks back a tiny bit. The back 2/10ths inch of the case doesn't expand. It's a few thousandths inch smaller than the case body at that pressure ring. Full length sizing reduces that pressure ring a little but not completely.

It is pretty much uniform around the case. I'm taking this is normal?!!

And I agree, basically you are looking at unsupported/protrusion of the case head from the chamber. And then you have a few dents in the case body, that could be caused by foreign material between the case body and chamber. It helps when the case is embeddable.

An update.
I ended up having to scrap 86 cases. Total count of what I purchased was 1,011.
I sent an email to the vendor, not to cry foul, but to let them know that their process (Scharch machine) was ruining a lot of good cases. The lot that I got anyway. They replied most concerned about the problem. Not to mention very generous. They are sending me 100 hand inspected cases, and asked if I could send some pictures, which I did. Needless to say, that I will most definitely continue to deal with TJ Conevera.

I wish you would have mentioned the company. I have purchased from them several times and are excellent to deal with! Probably will send you more than 100 replacements!:)

Not so in my rifles' barrels regarding protrusion. Pressure rings on fired cases are uniform all the way around all cases including those from chambers with extractor relief milled in the barrels tenon. There's chamber wall behind that ring the case body forward of its extractor groove or belt that never touches it.
