Howdy

I wandered into one of my favorite gunshops on Saturday, a place where I often find nice old pistols. This nice Flat Latch Model 36 was sitting in the 'old guns' display counter. Just the type of old revolver I like. Plenty of honest wear, but no major dings or scratches. Nice, Diamond grips numbered to the gun. Yep, plenty of wear on the checkering, but they are original to the gun. Shipped in November of 1961. Asking price was $395. I walked out the door with it for $350. Felt pretty good about it.

Super nice grab on that 36.

Not long ago an LGS had (probably still has) an almost identical 36/ Chief on the shelf @ $550. Same diamond grips but too good of condition. Made an offer of $475 as long as I could inspect the grips off of the revolver. Offer rejected... Never got a look at the stocks either.

That was easy to walk away from but I wouldn't have done the same with this little Chief.

It is pretty old, but if you take good care it, you might get 50-100 thousand more rounds out of it.

Geez Jim K,

That means he spent (at least) the princely sum of $ 175.00 per year for use of a stone cold classic! (Of course he will shoot the 1,000 rounds per week that is mandatory to be proficient with such a complicated and difficult weapon.):p

In that case Driftwood, I would have held out for $200.00 and a quart of buttermilk (maybe could be pushed to 1/2 gallon).

Excellent!!!

Buy a tube of Flitz, rub carefully with a soft cloth, and double your money when it looks almost like new again!!

I would clean the grips & checkering with lemon oil furniture polish and an old toothbrush.

You will be bedazzled with how good it looks when you get done!

I ran across one of these today in excellent shape, LGS want $365 for it. Don't know much about them though.

If a WA local wants to check it out, Pintos Guns, Renton.
