Used to be, you could carry in the terminals, just not in the "sterile areas"

Now it looks like the whole terminal is off limits.

Anybody know why the change?

Been around for awhile. Most people I speak to are not aware that the terminal is off limits.

F.S.790.06(12)No license issued pursuant to this section shall authorize any person to carry a concealed weapon or firearm........ inside the passenger terminal and sterile area of any airport, provided that no person shall be prohibited from carrying any legal firearm into the terminal, which firearm is encased for shipment for purposes of checking such firearm as baggage to be lawfully transported on any aircraft; or any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by federal law.

FYI, local entities have NO authority to regulate firearms in any manner other than zoning relative to business purposes in Florida.

It's attempted with parks & other publicly owned facilities & folds when challenged due to the stiff pre-emption clause in Ch. 790.

Don't really know why. We went in the opposite direction to where it's legal in the terminal now so long as you're not in the secure areas.
