Hey all,

I moved to Florida from MI about six months ago. I registered my car, changed my address, etc.

My Ccw is from Mi and is within date. Is carry permitted with a ccw from another state or is it necessary to have a florida specific ccw? I work a very long week and unfortunately dont have time to get fingerprinted but would obviously want to stay within the law. Thanks

Manny, find the nearest dept of Agriculture Dept to you that takes appointments for Florida CCW. Most of the time it takes 4-6 weeks to get an appointment but in 30 minutes you can accomplish everything right there and have your Florida CCW in about 10 days. If I remember the cost is about $117. I think every major metro area has one nd even some not so major areas.

Try out this link: http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/staff/regions.html

Ninety days after you moved to Florida, your Michigan permit becomes invalid:
http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/news/legislation.html

(3) If the resident of another state who is the holder of a valid license to carry a concealed weapon or concealed firearm issued in another state establishes legal residence in this state by registering to vote, or making a statement of domicile pursuant to section 222.17, Florida Statutes, or filing for homestead tax exemption on property in this state, the license shall remain in effect for 90 days following the date on which the holder of the license establishes legal state residence. This section applies only to nonresident concealed weapon or concealed firearm license holders from states that honor Florida concealed weapon or concealed firearm licenses.

Since you said six months ago, it is currently illegal for you to conceal carry in Florida, unless you are relying upon the 2nd Amendment to be your government permission slip.
