FMG Publications Urge Sportsmen to Buy a Gun for America
Monday August 9, 3:13 pm ET

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- FMG Publications is encouraging American sportsmen to vote to with their wallets this fall by supporting their Second Amendment right. The message from the publisher of American Handgunner, GUNS and Shooting Industry magazine: "Buy a Gun for America."

"You can't move without slipping on a campaign button or choking on another political promise," said FMG promotion director Randy Molde. "Sportsmen have the power to sway the election process with their vote, to be sure -- but their untapped strength lies in that fist full of cash they're willing to plunk down on a new gun, the ammunition and the accessories to go with it."

FMG has kicked off the "Buy a Gun for America" program at the retail level with a two-page ad and bumper sticker in the August issue of Shooting Industry magazine. The ad features the classic "I Want You" Uncle Sam-style recruitment theme with gun writing legend John Taffin as spokesman.

"These are the good old days for shooting sportsmen," proclaims Taffin. "It's up to all of us to protect our freedom. Don't buy a gun out of fear or contempt or hatred. Buy a gun because you live in a country where you can. Shoot and care for your guns responsibly. Always respect the laws. The shooting sports build friendships, keep families together and offer a lifetime of memories that will be cherished for generations. So go ahead and buy a gun."

Posters and stickers are available to Federal Firearms Licensed dealers to display in their store. The "Buy a Gun for America" campaign will also run in American Handgunner and GUNS Magazine urging sportsmen to visit their favorite gun store. FMG Publications encourages other industry related companies to adopt the program as well by including the "Buy a Gun" tag line in their ads and retail promotions.

"If twice as many guns were sold this fall over the same time last year," continued Molde, "you can bet it would have an impact on the campaign front."

Sounds like a plan.

Can I have some help convincing my wife that this is for the good of the Country?

BTW, I've bought an M1 Carbine and a bunch of reloading gear within the last three weeks.

Remington 700 VS Left Hand in 308

I have been looking for that rifle. When I find it It will be purchased. Hopefully prior to Sept. 30, 2004. No luck at all in NH.

Hmmm, since my last range trip, I've been thinking I need to buy some ammunition for America.

When's National Ammo Day again?:)

I'm selling a bunch of mustang car parts (the 5.0 is gone RIP) to put towards a .50BMG rifle of my choice. Didn't need any help from this campaign but glad to know im inadvertently helping.

It's a really cool ad. I saw it in GUNS magazine. It's got Mr. Taffin looking kinda mean with a somewhat patriotic scowl on his face holding a levergun. It reads "Buy a gun for America" Mr. Taffin, if you're reading this THANKS ! I'll take three before Nov. 2nd !

I'm picking up a new Tikka T3 on Friday, but not necessarily for America. I'm doing it for the deer, which are terribly overpopulated in my neck of the woods. I'll do my best to help the poor things out.

I've already bought five other guns this year, so I've been doing my part.
