So I found a dark earth FNP40 for sale. I like the looks of the gun, reviews are good, and the seller seems like a stand up guy. Researching them online the prices range from 615 to 500 NIB. The guy selling it wants 450 with 300 rounds down range and I don't doubt that he has kept the firearm clean. I am a LEO and haven't got around to calling my local FFL to see what I would pay for the gun with my discount NIB.

I was wondering what you guys though of the gun and the price. BTW it does not come with the threaded barrel but it does comes with 3 factory mags all boxes and papers.

I eally think the only reason I want it is because I don't own any FN products yet. I pretty much have the rest of the market covered (Colt, CZ, Beretta, Glock, S&W, Walther and I pick up my springfield XD next week). Didn't own a springfield and the guy sold it dirt cheap so I figured why not. Anyway I'd love to hear your thoughts and the gun and deal. Thanks.

I'm not an expert, and haven't fired the FNH FN-40 but am actually thinking about getting one for my first purchase and so I've done some research on them and they seem to be great and affordable. Near me they're mrsp'd at about 570 online and being sold at the gun shops for around 435 new. With your LE discount you could probably get a new one for about what he's asking. I'd check with your FFL first and see what kind of discount you can get before buying it used from him. Chances are you'll be happy either way. Let me know how it shoots when you do get it! I'm hoping to get one in April for my birthday

Thanks for the price info and I'll let you know how it shoots. I just filled out my collectors license so I've kind of gone on a mini spree here lately buying all sorts of stuff I don't exactly need but damn if it isn't fun.

I've owned an FNP-9M, it was a phenomenal gun. Can't go wrong with that one in my opinion.

I own a couple of FNP-9s and a couple of FNP-45s, I love the platform. I'm not a huge fan of the .40S&W round but I've fired the FNP-40 and it's as good as it's brethren.

If you want the FDE, I don't think they're making them any more due to the FNX changeover so you might not be able to find one NIB anyway. That sounds like a pretty good price.

I don't so much mind the .40 I find it to be a very manageable platform. I honestly would prefer the 9mm. I bought the CZ75B in .40 just because the guy was basically giving it away and honestly I LOVE THAT GUN. I've just kind of gone on a buying streak here lately and found it and figured hey why not. I just really need to call my FFL and find out what he can do on the LEO discount for one NIB. I have seen them online still.

If you are thinking about NIB then I would recommend the FNX-40. I have a FNP-9 and I like it so much I bought a FNX-40. As much as I like the FNP, I like the controls on the FNX better. It has the safety/decocker found on the FNP USG model and a few other changes to control size as well. The FNX also has a lower bore axis that helps with recoil management. I must say that I think the FNX-40 is the softest shooting .40S&W that I have shot. It will probably run a few dollars more but I think it is money well spend.

I don't own one and don't like double action autos, but it seems like one of the few that fit my hand and don't have excessive trigger reach.

If you like double action, the price seems reasonable.

The dark Earth FNPs were selling for $399 at most of my local shops and on Topgun when I bought mine. Its a great shooter but too thick to carry IMHO.

Oh I have no intention of carrying it. My carry weapon is the gold old fashinoned wheel gun. I know, I know not others carry choise but my little .38 snubby is invisible when I have it and when Mr. Thundermaker starts barking fire you might want to move. I was just thinking of grabbing it for the fun of it.

Jbabbler when did you buy yours? Thank you for the price info though I appreciate it.

I bought mine last year when Topgunsupply had the OD FNP40 and FNP9 for $399. I think CDNN had them for that price as well.

The currently have them in their latest catalog but it says to call for price.

Just bought a P9 a few weeks ago, had a great time with it at the range.

TACKDRIVER!

It is my carry gun. The thickness is a bit more than I would have preferred, but it is still far lighter and easier to conceal than my 1911. Lighter is nice.

They are a great value in a gun from what I have seen of prices. However, holsters are not simple to locate. But a great gun!
