I have a 9mm Px4 compact and ran into an issue at the range today. The slide was locking back with rounds still in the magazine. No I wasn't hitting the slide catch with my hand. I've ran 500 trouble free rounds through the firearm until today. It was happening every 2 to 3 rounds. When it occurred I would drop the mag inspect and re insert the mag hit the slide release and the round would chamber properly. Any ideas ? To me it seemed like a mag issue and I tried 3 different types of ammo with the same result. Only other issue I can think of is I did run 15 speer gold dot 115gr +p+ through the firearm on my last range outing. Thanks !!

I would check the slide stop spring and make sure it is pulling the slide stop down. If the spring is broken the slide stop will flap up and down while shooting and cause what you describe.

Had the same thing happen to my PX4Compact. The slide stop spring had somehow become disconnected and was lost. That spring is not secured very well (IMO) on the PX4Compact. I replaced the spring......it came loose again, and I finally sold the gun. You will find much better information on the Beretta Forum than I can provide.

Sometimes you can pull it a loose when cleaning it. I have never lost mine but I keep a spare to play it safe. Pops

Magazine out rack slide with gun upside down locks the slide. Same scenerio this time with the gun held regular slide doesn't lock. Gotta be the spring. Where is the spring in question located ?

I think it is behind the slide stop, between the stop and the frame. Your best bet is to call beretta with the serial number and a brief description of the problem.

Slide lock spring

Be careful when initially disassembling and cleaning the Storm Subcompact.

The slide lock lever can easily be dislodged and its spring lost. This will cause the slide to lock back randomly because of the play that is now possible to the slide lock lever.

If one is careful and cognizant, however, much frustration can be avoided in this regard.

I think Beretta could have done a better job of designing this operation.

Welcome to the forum. Just a friendly reminder to check the last posting date on a thread you comment in. This thread is 2.5 years old, and your posting now is what is known as thread necromancy, as you brought the thread back from the dead when the issue is likely resolved in some way.
