I am getting ready to purchase a new fnp45. Was just wondering if anyone had any feedback on it before I spend the 750$. And please nothing about Glocks, I have messed with those and there are a few reasons I don't like them

$750 is a little high. I do love mine though. It is a perfect handgun for me. As long as you don't want to conceal it...

I do conceal mine sometimes in the winter, under a unzipped coat.

Holsters can be a little hard to find. About the only one is a bladetech. It's pricey at $68. But, even though a few doubts when I first got it, I like it.

Watch the different models. The "USG" has a safety. The just straight FNP (no USG) model only has a de-cocker. Which is what I wanted and preferred.

They are great guns and one of the few who can carry 14+1 rounds of .45. Not to mention they give you 3 mags! Few others does that.

I added a TLR-1 to mine.

Depending on the model that's either a bad price or a REALLY good one. LOL!

I have a FNP 45 tactical with the RMR ready slide and the threaded barrel(if you find it for 750 you got a good deal). I love that gun. Something about the hi rise sights realllly make it easy for me to shoot and shoot better than every handgun I've owned.

The only drawbacks to the gun for me have to do with the double action pull and the difficulty of doing much of anything to fix that. It's an extremely heavy double action pull. Once the gun is cocked however I have no problems.

I've had a -45 USG for a couple of years and it's a great gun. Other folks have shot it and liked it as well. A month ago a new shooter tried it and went out and bought -9 for his first gun. You can get a new FNP-9 now for $330 to $399. I paid $639 for my -45 USG at a store.

Some time back I found an FN Shooter's Pack for it on line for something stupid like $7.95 plus $7.00 shipping. Okay, maybe it was more, but I know it was less than $20 total. I think it was from Cheaper Than Dirt or CDNN or one of those chearance outfits.

A friend bought a FNP-45, and I got to shoot it once. I shoot a stock Springfield XDM .40 compact as my comparison. The FNP is a big gun, and I wouldn't want to try and conceal it, but it had a very nice trigger. I was more accurate with the big heavy FNP than I am with the XDM, and I think the trigger was part of it.

After shooting his FNP, I now plan to upgrade the trigger on my XDM.

shoots very easy on the recoil, very accurate, and 100% reliable....15 shots quick, easy, accurate...what's not to like......new ones usually run about 625 in DFW

Shot a friends FNP and was getting 3 inch groups at a measured 50 yards.. combine that with 15 rounds and you have one fine .45. It is a big gun though and might be tough to CCW.

I got one new last month paid about 700 for it. I love it. there is a few companies making holsters for them. crossbreed, bladetech, cobra gunskins, and a few companies making kydex ones. Not something easy to conceal though. Only thing is the mag's are expensive.

I love mine. My only gripe is that it throws brass on me about every third shot. It bounced a cassing off of the bridge of my glasses once. I've heard that stops at about 500 rounds though. I've only got around 400 through it now, and it has all been target ammo.

You have ANY pics of this? You are shooting a 3 inch group at 50 yards holding a fn 45 pistol?

I know you said nothing about glocks, but I was looking at trading a gun of mine for an FNP45. I went and held several and worked the action at a gun show about two weeks ago. It felt great in the hand, but what killed it for me was all the very glock like control levers. I've got big hands and that fingernail-width surface of the slide release and other parts killed it for me. I'd also read about people hitting the decocker accidentally while firing, and while holding in my normal stance, I found it would be rather difficult to do that. It's a long push to get it to decock. People who ride the safety like a 1911 on the other hand...

As for CC, a good shoulder holster and a light leather jacket (or an MC vest if you dig that) would get you by in three of the four seasons. Or the two here in Texas; HELL and Autumn.

I'm guessing this is one of those awesome internet 3 inch groups that doesn't really exist.

Huh? gLoCk's don't have control levers.

Huh? Stop reading wherever you are reading this stuff.

OP, for the price of these I'd rather buy an HK, then you'll at least have options to change the contols layout if you so desire.

Yes, the slide stop control is about the same size as the one on my Glocks but I only use it for safety checks and for taking down the weapon. I was taught to rack the slide when doing a mag change since this will always work on any auto pistol to get the gun running again. I really like the soft recoil and minimal muzzle flip even with 230 gr factory rounds. Like SuperBoom said, if you are a long time 1911 shooter it will take a while with any DA/SA pistol to get used to pushing down on the decocking lever before holstering instead of up on the safety.

I have one and ran with it in a couple IDPA fun matches. It did very well until the magazines started jamming up. I found out that there was a design problem with the origianl magazine and FNH replaced all three magazines.

Holding it? Nope...sandbagged rest. Best group of 3. Pretty easy to do handheld at 25 yards though. Probably the most comfortable .45 I've shot and .45 is not a caliber I like.

New to the FNP. Just picked one up used and the sights are pushed way off to the side. How hard are they to adjust and are there other options for night sights? Any help would be great!!!:)

I have one and it is a fine pistol but I never shoot it much...too many more interesting pistols I guess.

I've had a G21 for a long time and really like it. Bought a FNP-45 a few months ago. I still like the Glock, and the FN won't take it's place overnight because it takes a while to develop the same level of confidence that the Glock has earned. But I can say that I like the FN, and it may eventually become my favorite. I think that is saying a lot from a guy who has a ton of respect for Glocks.

I've got the "Tactical" with the treaded barrel and slide cut for a red dot. Put a Trijicon RMR on mine and use it with my Ospry suppressor. Its a great package, although rather pricey, my only nits to pick is the SA trigger is a bit "spongy" just before it breaks (guess I'm spoiled by 1911 triggers) and the DA is mediocre at best and on the heavy side.

I guess my third nit would be the high price and scarcity of spare mags. There were reports of feed problems with some of the early mags (with folks saying FN replaced them) but I've had no issues with the three that came with my pistol and the extra pair I got from CDNN before they sold out of them.

one of the few who can carry 14+1 rounds of .45. Not to mention they give you 3 mags! Few others does that.
They seem to all be shipping now with the 15 round mags which has a bulbous base plate to make room for the extra round. I've not been able to find any of the 14 round mags, I'd like one, so I can lose the bulbous bottom when carried, 14+1 with 15 round spares should be plenty. With the price of guns and spare mags these days, IMHO they all should come standard with three mags. Lets hope FN starts a trend here!
