What do you guys think?

This is going to be my everything gun, except for CC (for which I have an LCR). But this will basically be the only semi-full sized pistol that I plan on becoming very proficient with. I have a Gen 2 Glock 19 at home, but this has since become my wife's gun. I've toyed around with getting a Glock 19, or possibly a M&P 9c, but the FNP-9 and P99 is what I've pretty much narrowed it to.

P99 feels better in hand; I haven't gotten to shoot either however. The FNP-9 comes with 3 mags, while the P99 comes with 2, and the FNP is considerably cheaper (~$150 cheaper). However, I'm also not sure what it's like finding parts for these (whereas I know finding Glock parts is extremely easy).

So...?

I would go with the FNP or better yet an FNX.

The Walther P99 is very comfy in the hand but they are not for everyone. I had a P99AS and didn't like the trigger so I bought the P99QA and eventually sold that one as well. If you're going to go the P99 route then make sure you pick one with a trigger system that you like and I have yet to find one I like myself.

The FNP/FNX has a very decent trigger and I find them to be just as comfortable in the hand as the P99. I'm also a little partial to the FNP/FNX series big I'm a huge FN fan, they make a quality product. Go with the FN it's a better gun for the money IMO.

Doesn't the FNX have some weird thing going on with the magazine where you have to push up then forward?

Improvements in the FNPX are not improvements IMO.

Get the one that fits your hand better.

My P99 fits my hand just incredibly well I can't imagine letting it go. It's also never had any form of failure and I trust it completely. It'd be an unweildy bugger to carry, but is a nice piece of mind with nightsights and a Streamlight sitting on the nightstand.

Mine is a DAO in .40 S&W. I would certainly not call it a range toy, but I shoot it often enough to have no worries about the trigger under duress.

P 99 You can get the P99 for around $550.

The FNX9 is also a great gun. Prefer it to FNP.

Whatever one you shoot best. My choice would be the Walther but I wouldnt bust your balls for choosing the Fnh, I would if you purchased a Glock.

Walthers cost more than $550 around these parts. Also Walther hi cap Mags are expensive and can be hard to find.

However, that said, of the two I would choose the P99.
