What is your opinion on the FNP-9M or any FNP for that matter.

I am interested in getting one, but am not to sure about the reliablity and history of the model. Local dealer is asking $499.99 and was wondering if this is a good price. Also, compared to a glock how is this gun? Any info is appreciated.

I remember there was a spate last year of NIB FNP-9's having defective receivers that broke (See: Cracked in half!) shortly after the gun began to be used. Some people had posted of going through 2-3 NIB guns that would have their receivers crack upon dry-firing once or during initial shooting. Not sure how they stack up now.

$499 is about $100 too high, you should be able to find one for less. The 9-M is discontinued for this year, and they aren't particularly easy to find.

The cracking hammer group issue is fairly rare, and I would not stop that from letting you buy one. I would equate such issues on par with exploding Glocks, rusting SIGs, things like that.

I had my 9-M for a long time, and it was the most down and dirty reliable gun I've had to date. I would highly recommend one, but you can find one for cheaper.

Yes, the cracking trigger group thing seems to have been fixed, and was not that widespread. FN has redesigned the trigger group and has replaced the affected guns owned by people with the new trigger groups.
