I have one with a CT Railmaster laser on my bedside table. It is a soft shooter, extremely accurate, and fun to shoot. It also serves as one of my hiking sidearms in a Safariland holster with a rotating hood, same as a lot of cops use.
Mine was made in 2009, so I had some of the old issues that were common with earlier ones.
Spent brass was smacking me in the face as I am right handed, but left eye dominant. Thus I was holding the gun too far left. It also wasn't broken in. I got a few burns on my collar bone as a casing would go down my shirt from time to time. Since the pistol got broken in, and I have trained myself to shoot right eyed, this problem resolved itself with about 750 rounds. The casings now eject in a much more consistant pattern.
Early mags had issues with the springs, and it failed to feed all of a sudden. I ordered new springs from Midwest gun works, and they were a full 2.5 inches longer than the old used ones. That problem was solved. After some adjustments and simple fixes on my part, I trust my life to it.
It is one of two polymer guns I own. The other is a SA XDs in .45. IMO, It is a far nicer weapon than any GLOCK or other poly gun, especially if you prefer hammer guns as I do.
BTW, the beveled mag floor plates take 15 rounds. The flat ones take 14. I also ordered 3 beveled floor plates from Midwest Gun Works, and converted all mine to 15 rounders. The old ones only came with 3 14 round mags.
Mine is an FNP-45. Not sure what changed in them to warrant the FNX designation, but hopefully that means the issues I had are fixed.
I would definately recommend this gun if you are looking for a full sized, ammo maxed, shooter that can fill all roles needing to be filled by a .45 acp, with the exception of concealed carry. That doesn't work so hot, as it was designed to be a duty pistol. I'd by another for sure. I wish they would make an all stainles, no polymer version, in 10 mm. Heavy as hell, but what a power house that would be.
