Hi, I'm looking for a straight drop kydex or synthetic paddle holster with a thumb operated retention mechanism and found the FOBUS Thumb Lever Holster. This holster fits all my requirements and it has an adjustable cant so I can customize that to my fancy. One thing I don't know, however, is are these holsters any good? I've heard good and bad, but would like some recent opinions on the company and they're products now.
If the FOBUS doesn't work out I'm also looking at the Galco MX4 Auto Locking Holster, which has everything I want, except for a very slight cant that I can live with.
Thoughts?

I don't know about the thumb lever holsters but I have this one for 10 or 15 years and it works great. Cost about $15 as I recall.

I've been using my FOBUS paddle holster for about 25 years and has never failed me. Had to tighten the rivets on the paddle 2 years ago because they loosened up but besides that it's a great holster for mu Glock 23. Good handgun retention when doing anything strenuous.

At one point, this was how they were viewed/reviewed. I dunno if they've updated their design since the video was shot.

I saw that video a while back. Very silly IMO.
Fabus Holsters are very tough and inexpensive. I tend to pretty abusive of things, some would say that's an understatement.
If I haven't broke mine in more than ten years it must be tough.

Yes, Fobus is good to go. I have a paddle for my G26 and
G19, and a belt holster for my Kimber Royal Custom (Gov't model)
Paddle mag pouches as well. I highly recommend Fobus;
good enough for the Israeli Defense Forces, good enough for me.

We used them for some time as range and issue duty holsters. They did not hold up well under constant rugged use in our experience. That video made the rounds here as well, and actually ended up at our Admin level. We no longer use Fobus holsters, but we still have the mag pouches. I bought my own High Noon rig and don't use issue stuff anymore.

I have quite a few of the Fobus holsters. Quality is ok, they are plastic. Much better choices for CCW. However for just going to the range, the Fobus work out well.
I personally love the Galco Paddle Holster and better yet, the Mitch Rosen belt holsters.

I have quite a few CompTac paddle holsters for various guns, and it is my go-to paddle holster. They are easy to put on and take off, retain the gun well, and are very stable in place. I think well of them.

They don't have any secondary retention features, but I always have a cover garment over the pistol and the pistol retention itself has proven quite good.
