Well, just bought a nice Fobus paddle holster. I cant even get the gun out of my holster without yanking and jumping in the air. It's the RU97 holster and the draw is rediculously hard. If i sanded down the nubs around the trigger guard would that void the warranty?

Any other suggestions?

My Fobus problem is friction along the sides of the slide. It holds the gun tight, rather than the intended retention on the trigger guard. I've used silicone to 'lube' the areas, which has helped, but I'm wondering about heating and slightly reforming the holster itself. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Doug

That's the way to do it! I've used a hair dryer on both of my Fobi to get different retention characteristics. The retention on my Hi-Power Fobus was too much and too little on my P-64.

Not really any tricky tricks. On the Fobus that was too tight, I just wedged a flathead screwdriver in between the two sections in the trigger area (where the retention 'device' is), heated it with a hairdryer and let it set till it was cool. For the Fobus that was too loose, I just clamped the sections together in the trigger area, hit it with the hairdryer...well, you get the idea. Sorry I don't have any pictures!

My holster contacted the sides of the slide. Thanks to Telecaster's inspiration, I placed a thin strip of brass along the side of the slide, heated it with the hair dryer, and let it cool. I then pulled out the sheet of brass and the holster held it's 'expanded' shape- just enough larger that it no longer contacts the slide. Success!
