Fobus Rota Holster

Wow...You think my skill level is poor, huh? Do you have any idea of my skill level, just because I do not have a thousand posts, here sport.

The OP asked about the holster, not about what you allege are someone's skill level based on the holster they prefer. Are my skills awesome because I choose to carry Berettas and Glocks in Galco rigs too? You statement is ridiculous in the extreme and not very "high road."

My Fobus standard holster works, it has worked, under a huge variety (Middle East to the Arctic in Fairbanks and even farther north of that) and still works to this day. No breakage, no droppages, no ADs and minimal maintenance. I would like to see other products work that well, You Tube videos notwithstanding. By the by, Fobus was along way before your precious Bladetech and Crossbreed, so that speaks somewhat to their quality.

Again, OP, it is a personal choice.

Well, "sport," I don't care how many posts anyone has. I don't equate post count to knowledge. Some folks post stupid things right off, some keep posting stupid things well past 1000.........:D

As to your skill level, you might be Rob Leatham's clone for all I know.........once you get the gun out! But if you haven't noticed the myriad of flaws in the FOBUS holster, then yes, I doubt your overall skill level is very high.

You statement is ridiculous in the extreme and not very "high road."

I don't know about my comment not being High Road.......but it is very factual, based on years of experience and observations by myself and others.

My Fobus standard holster works....

How fast is your first shot on target from the holster? If the gun is carried for personal protection, how fast and accurate the first shot from the holster is becomes very significant. If one uses a FOBUS as simply a range/field holster or a place to deposit the gun when you're not shooting it, then it doesn't matter. One could use a burlap sack, too, as it wouldn't matter.

Fobus was along way before your precious Bladetech and Crossbreed, so that speaks somewhat to their quality.

I never mentioned Bladetech or Crossbreed, so they're hardly "precious" to me. The reason FOBUS is still around is because it's cheap! It's available (because it's cheap) and because it gives the impression of being high tech.

I won a FOBUS that won't allow the 1911 to be drawn out of it. I came to find out that particular holster had been on several prize tables before I snagged it. I got it because I wanted one to show the multiple problems it has to potential holster buyers so they can buy quality instead.

I'm glad you like yours.......but I stand by my statement.

i got a fobus rota holster a few years back right after buying my xd40. my biggest complaint was that if you didn't draw at the exact angle required it was nearly impossible to get the gun to clear the holster, this was unacceptable to me as i had chosen this holster as my ccw rig at the time. i kept it for about 3 months and practiced with it daily to try to get used to it. finally i broke down and just got a generic uncle mikes iwb holster and later moved up to galco, desantis and don hume leather holsters.

LOL--Dude...I am a 3 gun Master in IDPA and a USPSA "A" class shooter in Limited and Production. I use alternately a Blackhawk Serpa CQC and a Fobus. Thie previous post is not "the truth" it is opinion--one which I can respect and agree with on many points--but openly disresepctful of many of the posters who've previously voiced their support.

I'd say, frankly, if this is your opinion then you have not given the holster a fair shake. They are not junk, they have their uses. CCW is NOT ONE OF THEM.

LOL--Dude........I said the TOP shooters! Pardon me for pointing out the obvious, but "A" class in USPSA or "Master" class in IDPA, in and of itself, ain't exactly "top shooter" territory. (the fact that an "A" class in USPSA is also a "master" in IDPA points out the flaw in their skill-level categories)

Can you perform decently at matches with a FOBUS? Sure, if you practice enough and depending how deep your particular pool of shooters is. But you're doing it in spite of the holster, not because of it.

The fact remains......instead of fighting a FOBUS for each and every draw, you would be better if you used a truly good holster. I have proven this in several of my classes with different students.
