If you truly want to use the justice system as a tool to end this then higher a lawyer, don't rely on the cops. That's from personal experience. Remember cops don't practice law they enforce the law.

You say you have lots of friends. Get them to help watch your back while you either solve this problem legally or get out of dodge.

Carry a digital recorder and maybe a small digital camera on you at all times when out and about, besides carrying the obvious.

I'm not saying you did anything wrong, but do you live the kind of lifestyle in which this kind of drama is sort of commonplace? Are you an accountant who lives in the burbs and goes to church every Sunday? I'm guessing not. I'm not saying you don't have the right to live any kind of (legal) lifestyle you choose, but choices do have consequences.

Well, no I'm not an accountant, dont go to church, or live in the burbs. I live rather ghetto city. But I am in no way on the same level with these guys. I've managed to keep my nose clean in situations & places where others could not. I'm no Angel but I'm not a crimminal just someone raised in such a place where not everyone can resist the temptation so to say.

Hell I work a 65-70hrs a week but still I have time to run the streets? Why the hell would I have a job if I normaly hangout with these kinds of people.

I gave the officers what I knew off the top of my head, gave them the brief backround of this issue. I didn't lie to the officers or withhold that I knew I was just a bad witness/victim.

I learned more about this person when I talked to the girl. She told me what he drives, who's car he was in at the time, and where the owner of the car lives. I called & left for message for the officers to call me. They returned my call within minutes of me calling the station,I told them what new info I had. I hatched out a shady off the record deal with them, since I want them caught but dont want to be anywhere near the paperwork. If they happen to get picked up on some other charges before they can take another shot at me great if not I guess I'll have no choice but to use the system .

You need to get your head on straight. They don't care about the police or any freaking paperwork. If what you say is true they want you dead.

You really only have two options. You can leave and hope they don't follow you, or you can stand up to them and probably die. Both options suck, you need to figure out which one sucks worse.

Some advice...

Stop making posts about the situation; When you start spelling out what you are doing/planning, you give two things away... your (possible) "tactical hand" and possible pre-meditation of what could be percieved as criminal activity, especially by not reporting certain things to the police...

The criminals don't sound like run-of-the-mill dopers and thieves... sounds like your buttin' up against gangbangers... Therefore the struggle of one is the struggle of many, so in any case your up against X number of bad hombres...

I'm assuming you're down south somewhere... Texas, N.M., AZ? If the baddies are the general types from certain locales down there, it's even more problematic as there is the whole machismo thing too, esp. with women involved...

I'm not going to jump on the what you should have done bandwagon, so good luck w/ whatever you decide to do.
Not to go all Mad Max on ya but the first thing that popped into my head however was secure/hang a piece of thin steel on the back of your truck seat. I personally would go Beyond Thunderdome and put one in the drivers door as well. I do not care what anyone says here, that might save your life.

You want the cops to catch them for a crime not related to you because you're afraid of being labeled a snitch. Well, according to what I've read, by their definition, you're already a snitch for reporting that battery that landed one back in the steel bar hotel for three months. What's there to lose if you filed charges. It shouldn't be too late and besides, what are they going to do about it? Come after you again anyway? They will anyhow.

Look, if they tried to kill you, you should press charges for attempted murder. Hoping the cops can catch them on something else is weak.

BTW, if the cops don't get them and you're still alive, move out of town and don't ever see that girl anymore. Ever thought she's setting you up?

Let her know, on no uncertain terms that she is not yours and that she "belongs" to the fellow in prison.

Excuse me. We women do not "belong" to anyone but ourselves. We are not slaves. We are not chattel. And this is the US, not the middle east.

If the woman in question is not fully committed to avoiding the criminals then ending the relationship would be wise. But buying into the idea that a woman "belongs" to a man is disgusting.
