For all the Ruger bashers out there.

We needed a tough, dependable and safe to use revolver for a guy living in a bad area.
The SP101 DAO snub proved to be the perfect gun for the application.

Ruger revolvers and rimfires are great and I would probably go with the current M77 over a Remington 700.

Although, I have gone through two Mini's in the last ten years and I can honeslty say I won't be buying another one.

My only Ruger is a P-series pistol. I like it & would consider buying another Ruger in the future.

Bill Ruger would whore out his own mother, grandmother and daughters if he thought the return on investment was there.

Here, we have the epitome of idiocy. Unless the poster actually can provide some proof of this, it constitutes the legal definition of slander.

Why do drive-by posters feel that they have no responsibility for their actions?

Ruger will still be a profitable concern long after these bozos are dead and forgotten. It must be a real shame that they continue to sell so many guns to professionals, as well as others, year after year, despite the likes of such statements.

I agree that many Rugers aren't what I'd call "lookers", but when you compare an LCP to a Kel-Tec P3AT, the Kel-Tec looks like a cheap toy.

I've only owned SA revolvers from Ruger but haven't felt the need to explore other options, fine pistols, indeed.

sometimes it's not the gun,but the person behind it.there is a variety choose the one you like most.

I've had a 10/22 for 40 years still shoots like a charm? It's even survived being used and abused by two boys growing up.

P series and Balackhawk

I have had my 9mm and 45 P series for quite a few years and have never had a problem. They get used very frequently and have all handled thousands of rounds, not one Problem!
Same for the Blackhawks, no issues. The Rugers, may not be sexy but they sure as heck are reliable.
Would I buy another Heck Yes.
Just realized my favorite .22 , the target MK1 is 30 years old and has never had a fail to load or eject. Now that's an enviable record in my book.

Now this is by no means a 100% prefect list and I do not maintain that Ruger is the BEST firearms builder out there. Looks like Ruger frequents the list the most with 6 appearances followed by S&W with 5 appearances.

2010 handgun of the year is the Ruger SR9c.

I maintain that Ruger builds a darn good pistol or rifle for a fair price.

#1 For some reason the link you posted doesn't work.

#2 You are a Ruger Fanboy. I own the P-89 and mine shoots well and is very accurate and reliable. The P-89 is my go-to gun - but I had to do a lot of work on it to get it that way. First, I had to fix the grips - they just didn't seem to keep the gin from slipping. So, I put some special, rough paint on them and solved that problem. Then...I had to fix the trigger!

That P-89 rugger trigger was the heaviest thing I've ever shot - I couldn't believe it. Ridiculous! I couldn't find a ready-made spring on the market that would work, so I had to custom-cut a spring. It works fine, now. Nevertheless, the trigger take-up is a bit much for most tastes and I can really understand their feelings about this.

Even though I own a Ruger and use it as my main gun, would I recommend anyone buy a Ruger? No! Who the hell wants to become an amateur gunsmith just to get the gun shooting right?

I tell my friends to go buy a bargin Sig or CZ or Bersa if they need a semi-auto 9mm.

So, he is a Ruger "fanboy" even though he states "... this is by no means a 100% prefect list and I do not maintain that Ruger is the BEST firearms builder out there."

Interesting.

Also interesting is you bringing up problems you have with a Ruger pistol that was discontinued 3 years before the list he posted was created. Ruger has changed immensely, not only in those three years but between then and now as well. His basic premise, that Ruger builds a darn good gun for the money can be argued, but probably not by anyone who has actual recent experience with any of their recent guns, including the SR-9, SR9c, SR-40, SR-40c, LC9, SR22p etc, etc. Not to mention the 10/22, SR556, Ruger Single Six and the Mark series of .22 autoloader's.

Wait, seriously? We're going to start drama on a 3 yr old zombie thread that was brought back from the dead because... I can't think of a reason why?

Edit:

I think we've finally found a reasonable use for this stuff!!!

It's for killing zombie threads on gun forums!!!

Very active thread.

I was once crazy about Ruger. I think they make good entry level guns with a few I don't care for much.

Their 22 rifles and pistols are classic. Can't say much negative on them.

Their centerfire pistols have improved. I don't care for the mag disconnects...at all though and the LC9 is simply crushed by the S&W Shield and several other makers offerings.

They had a huge hit with the SR series and LCP.

They are a big company, doesn't mean they're the best.

Thank you 19-3Ben, it's an old thread and the joke was on me for replying to it.

Peace be to all.

And, for the record: I am not "picking on" any particular gun manufacturer, because I don't like any of the gun manufacturers.

But...I do like guns.
