For all you Kel-Tec fans...watch out for SuperFlyer

SuperFlyer (or whatever he calls himself over on the KTRange and KTOG boards) has posted several very dangerous modifications to Kel-Tec pistols. The P-3AT to be exact. I emailed Kel-Tec directly about his "rampectomy" and barrel hood modifications that are being preached as scripture on the KTRange and KTOG forums... The bottom line is Kel-Tec does not endorse him or his modifications in ANY way and it WILL make a pistol very dangerous. And he claims to be a Kel-Tec "expert", too... Just thought I'd pass this customer service announcement along.

It's in your owners manual that mods will void your warranty. I think part of the problem is that Kel-Tec's web site has a link to Ktrange so people could think things in there are ok to do.

I am an administrator at KTrange. I speak to the head gunsmith at Kel-Tec quite often and he has never once warned me in any way about any mods to any of the Kel-Tec pistol line. All Kel-Tec has done recently is enforce some warranty rules that have been abused by some people who have been taking advantage of their very liberal customer service policy.

If you go to KTOG you will find quite a commotion has been stirred up by the person originating this thread. He is just continuing his practices here. He has an agenda, and there is currently a petition at KTOG regarding him.

I am also an administrator at KTrange.com and would like to point out that Kel-Tec has actually incorporated several of the design mods Flyer has come up with into redesigns of their pistols. Of course they can't endorse him, it would put them in a legal situation that would be untenable. Kel-Tec's head smith and their webmaster are members of our board and routinely monitor it. They have never stated that anything we have proposed would make their pistols dangerous on the board. In fact, the head smith has commented that he has made some of the same modifications to his own guns.

ScottD has been nothing but a pain in the neck at KTOG for weeks now causing nothing but acrimony to spread over the entire system. Don't let it happen here. He sure won't make it onto our system unless he stays silent. He has made... four posts here now?.. and has already engaged in personal attacks of this sort. I would think that would violate the rules here.

I find it interesting that my brand spankin' new second generation P-3AT has a cut out, or "rampectomy" in the feed ramp -- as produced by the KT factory. I guess it isn't so dangerous after all....

I'm just a lowly member at both places, but have complete faith in Flyer's mods, and very little in the veracity of ScottD's claims.

If you are modifying your own firearm, and don't have the intelligence to figure out beforehand if its going to blow up in your face, or to test it properly under controlled conditions...
